“Molehill of issues became a mountain of disappointment!”

Nice Property but overpriced..
Capricho (or Villa Sammy) is an impressive villa with lovely views but little attention given to maintenance details. What began with reliable communication to Top Villas Mallorca (TVM) eroded into unanswered or late replies to our emails seeking solutions to problems.
We have rented often, Jamaica, Barbados, Myrtle Beach, Greece etc and are rental home owners ourselves...After leaving the €300 damage deposit at TVM offices and receiving contact info we proceeded to the Villa. Upon arrival we noticed we were given the wrong code to access the key box. It took approx 20 minutes to get the correct code to begin our vacation.
Finally inside the villa we were greeted by a malfunctioning dishwasher that left dishes requiring hand washing (even after repairs had been done two days later, dishes still came out dirty).
Along with the dishwasher the kitchen also provided a set of window blinds of which one set could not be fixed by the owner himself, Mr. Choi who tried.
The Satellite TV cable in the kitchen was broken but luckily got fixed during our stay. Plastic compartments in the refrigerator were cracked and eventually got replaced… The list goes on…
Next room: the dining room rug is very dirty. The otherwise very nice glass top dining table has a large chip, one leg of the fan is chipped and one of the decorative vases was held together by tape. Also, most of the pictures are very misleading: The living room furniture is no longer as pictured (however the new couch is lovely). The loveseat has been replaced with two massage chairs which were comfortable, but one couldn’t be turned off without pulling the plug. The TV in this room needed reprogramming but that was taken care of. A side note: Not one clock in the entire house had working batteries in them when we arrived.
The terrace dining area was comfortable and large but the wicker chairs at the round table were coming apart and left scratches on your body when sat on (these too were replaced).
The swimming/sunbathing area had an amazing view, however the outdoor pool area was also no longer as pictured. There are no parasols and only 6 very uncomfortable plastic sunbeds. There are now 5 Balinese type beds pushed together in front of the windows of the indoor pool.
In the indoor pool area the faucet in the bathroom was completely hanging out of its fixture until the owner got it fixed a week later. The “gym equipment” (which was a huge part of our reasons for choosing THIS rental over others)… We were not amused! The cross trainer and treadmill were simply broken and were not repaired even after we contacted the owner. The multi-cable-pull was rusted, pins didn’t fit, the seat was fixed with duct-tape and a lot of its “functions” couldn’t be used. This was quite disappointing to say the least. My son and nephews respective profession requires them to stay in top form. This was not possible at Villa Capricho and required them to seek out and pay for membership at a gym. Once again we felt/feel misled.
In the bedrooms, one door handle came off in our hands when we tried to open the door the fist time, the master bedroom shower only poured out scalding water when attempting to shower. The thermostat could not be fixed. I was forced to shower in the tub, where the hose is short and the water pressure fickle (temperature also fluctuates). We dealt with it but if you are traveling with younger children: don’t expect to be able to bathe them in this tub.Sometimes I just showered in another room.
Three bedrooms had mattresses that did not fit the bed frame properly and on which you could feel every single metal coil when sleeping, two of them had plaster peeling off the walls/ceiling. In one bedroom the otherwise beautiful glass shower partitions were cracked and “fixed” by sticking unsightly gray squares over the damaged area. In said bathroom the toilet-paper-holder apparently had come off the wall and had been stuck back on. It was held in place by scotch tape when we arrived. This felt like a bad joke.
Finally: One of the bug zappers in the hallways didn’t work.
Many of these issues on their own are not at all tragic but in sum they became bothersome to say the least. Many issues were left unresolved and in the instances things were repaired, many times we weren’t made aware of when a technician would appear. We spent more hours than we would have liked of our vacation waiting and/or remaining in the Villa while the technicians did their work!
Our vacation did not end much better than it began. We were told an administrator would come to Capricho in the afternoon on the day before our departure to assess the villa and return our deposit. This did not happen. After my numerous emails went unanswered and I placed a call to TVM. It turned out the villa would be assessed and our deposit returned Sat at 10:00, they day of our departure. Hence, we spent our last day waiting for an arrival that never happened.
The administrators (non English speaking) niece and her team turned up at 9:50. We were caught off guard. We had been told it would likely not be a problem if we stayed in the villa until 13:00 as a show of goodwill. When I then spoke to the administrator Josefine, she obviously had no knowledge of this, was rude and confrontational, asking me if I was willing to pay the workers for the time they would have to wait!
In closing, I would be wary of renting this villa. It got tiresome mediating through TVM. We thought it would be fair, considering the countless hitches we encountered, and the numerous, precious hours of our vacation wasted, to have a portion of the expensive rent refunded. After imploring the reluctant TVM team to contact the owner Mr. Choi before we departed, he deemed it appropriate to refund us €300 which sums up to about 3% off what we paid.
