We have recently returned from the Tropico playa and had a great time. Admittedly it wasnt very busy even though it was half term ( the whole resort was quiet ) so we didn't have any of the problems that lots of people reported in busier times. We had room 209 with a sea view and alot bigger than some hotels we have been in it was clean and the maids did a great job. Vicky on reception was great cant understand why anyone says otherwise, and Gail was working in the restaurant while we were there she was also very friendly and the other restaurant staff were good too. Miguel The restaurant manager had a very dry sense of humour so i could see why people would think he might be abrupt but he was dancing around in joing in with some of the guests after the restaurant was shut. Antonio behind the main bar was great and gave very genourous drinks, yes it did say 2 drinks at a time but you could go as often as you like. Mary the entertainer was brilliant, no it wasnt professional entertainment every night but mary did a great job and worked really hard all day long. The food was good quality although a bit limited there were snacks availble at the pool bar in the afternoon but nothing after evening meal. This is the first year it has been AI and they will probably learn a few things for next year. Location was excellent just walk across the road to the beach and a 20 minute stroll to magaluf or 5 euros for a taxi. it was 12 euros each for a trip to palma market ( oh dear !! ) the market took 10 minutes to look round and sold nothing different to the shops in palma nova but we went on the normal bus instead which cost 5.80 each return with no time limit. All in all a good friendly 3 star hotel right next to the beach if you want 5 star pay for it !!!

Room Tip: email and ask for a sea view they are the best ones

We are a group of 4 mature ladies, We stayed at this hotel 24th of September. We had read reviews about the Tropico Playa hotel in Palma Nova and thought the good outweighed the bad. We were right to take the majority vote and were not disappointed. Our arrival and booking in process was swift and pleasant and we had all our requests beforehand that we had asked for. A room near a lift, a view of the sea, from our Balcony we had a side view of the sea as well as the mini Golf course and the pool.
We asked for the two rooms to be close and they were one room apart. The room was spacious had plenty of hangers, and though the twin beds were pushed together, we pushed them apart and the maid did not push them together again. There was free air conditioning that we really appreciated and slept with it on all night.
The restaurant was certainly roomy enough for us to always get a table and only on one occasion did we wait for about three minutes for one. The food is what I expected it to be, typical mix of English German and Spanish dishes, but in plentiful supply as it was replenished when the dishes were empty. A good choice on the whole and lots of salad to fall back on if needed. The soup was a bit bland, salt and pepper had to be added, but then some people do not like spiced up food. The deserts were delicious.
Never had to wait more than a couple of minutes at the bar for a drink served by cheerful staff. The measures of Malibu in my Lemonade PHWWW Very liberal. The pina colada cocktails were great, they also make nice milky coffees at the bar. You can take two drinks at a time so we were happy we went fully inclusive as it is the drinks and food that your spending money goes on mostly. The pool bar is great for drinks too, though the pina cola is weaker there, though that may because they do not want intoxicated people to be swimming. But there were sandwiches popcorn and crisps and a freezer full of ice lollies and ice cream.
The pool area is crammed with sun beds and I did have one swim, The water was quite chilly though the weather was hot.
The beach is a stones throw away and the best bit was the sea, compared to the pool it was like stepping right into a warm bath. I and my pals were in the sea up to 3 hours a day, it is salty and clear. Fish of all sizes swam around us with no fear. It felt really safe there. There was no worries about leaving our belongings on the beach, most of the time we met people from our hotel and others in the locality, everyone was so friendly.
A large trip boat came in a couple of times a day, we decided to take it and got to Palma. Beware, we thought we were taking the Palma market day trip, only to find out there was no Market on Tuesday. But the boat trip itself was great. It was 15 Euros each and you could sit in the bottom of the boat and watch underwater through the sides, or a floor up and sit where the bar is, or on top to see the sights. Palma itself is a beautiful place and we decided to take the open top bus tour. This lasts an hour and a half and you listen through headphones the commentary in English. You get to see the port Catle and Cathedral as you pass by.
We also paid 17 Euros for a coach trip which lasted about 30 minutes to the ancient Market town of Inca. This ios the largest Market I have seen in my life, it kept branching off down different streets, Even keeping in a straight line it was easy to get lost and I had to turn back to find my friends. We also went to a Factory outlet there where our guide said there were lots of bargains, dont believe it, the prices were outlandish and we ended up having a drink there at the cafe. So my advice is buy from the market and haggle the prices, this is expected. Back to the hotel, at night there was some form of entertainment laid on. Those who can remember Leapy Lee, he had a one hit wonder with "Little Arrows" was on, as well as another couple of acts, there was a brilliant one with dancers from Argentina. They drummed and used ropes and whips and worked really hard. Mary the kids entertainer was crazy you could hear her laughter everywhere. She laughed when she dropped a bucket of ice in the pool store, and laughed even harder when I said "Have you dropped you teeth?"
To sum up the hotel and resort are well worth booking. All the staff were more than helpful even when our other friends kept losing the card key or locking themselves out! One warning though, the Crazy Golf next door is nothing to do with the hotel but we decided to go on our last day.
There are some different levels and steps and my friend blinded by the sun did not see the step on hole 1 and had a really nasty fall. A big shout out to the staff at the Tropico Cocktail bar next to the hotel, who at my request supplied me with a towel and Ice to take the swelling down on my friends cheekbone. She smashed her face up badly and I had to take her to an assessment centre and then 4 hours was spent at hospital when we got back to England. So be cautious if you use the Golf pitch. OTHER THAN THAT HAD A GREAT TIME

we have just returned from an 11 night break at the tropico. for a basic hotel it ticks all of the boxes. beds are comfy, rooms are spotless, food fine and the drinks are good. what makes this hotel stand out for me was the friendliness of all of the staff. they are pleasant and hard working and nothing is too much trouble. ok so the rooms have no television or hairdryer. your towels are changed every day and if you get a room over the pool then the views across the beach are beautiful.finally if you are thinking of booking for next year try booking the hotel direct, its a small deposit and you pay the balance on arrival and if you book before the end of the year you get a 20 per cent discount! if you can grab a cheap flight you got a bargain!

Room Tip: just ask as reception are really helpful but rooms overlooking the pool and on the fourth or fifth f...
