Used to go to this hotel when it was called Tamarix. What a transformation, it was difficult to imagine the old hotel but what a beautiful job they have made. Well done to Juan and his team. The food was very well presented and tasty, staff ever so friendly. We were in building 4 very quiet with a swim up room, room quite spacious with a small kitchen and large bathroom with double shower, slippers and bathrobes. Would recommend here, looking forward to going back again.

Having booked this last minute we did have reservations as we usually do a lot of research on a hotel and surrounding areas, but we booked on the Saturday and arrived on Wednesday and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted with a cool refreshing drink and were very quickly checked in.

Our room was in the main building a L prime balcony suite, very large with a large bathroom, big wardrobe with plenty of hangers and a free safe. The was a small fridge, a kettle with 2 mugs (no tea or coffee though) and wine glasses, very handy as a bottle of water and small bottle of wine was left as a welcome drink, very nice touch.
The beds are 2 twins pushed together which stayed pushed together and didn't part company in the middle of the night as we have found in other hotels ! And very comfortable, 2 pillows lovely and soft, with clean fresh smelling linen. The only thing we found to watch out for is the open shower, the floor can get very wet making it slippery, take you complimentary slippers and bathrobe in with you and you should be ok.

We had booked half board although intending to go out and explore other places to eat some nights we found the food to be so good we stayed in, plenty of choices even for the fussy people. We would then walk into the resort centre where there is plenty of bars, shops and resturants, walk of our meal and return for the entertainment at the hotel, and a few night caps!!

The hotel staff are fantastic they all work very hard, but always smiling and welcoming what ever the time of day or night.

We had a lovely relaxed week, not having to fight for sunbeds round the pool and always getting good service at the bar, many thanks to all the staff for all their efforts during out week.

Room Tip: L prime balcony rooms have sunbeds but are in the main hotel, can be a bit noisier at night.

Airport and transfer was smooth, took just over an hour! When we arrived at hotel, we were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and received a cool drink!

We stayed in a prime L balcony suite. It was beautiful, two single, extremely comfortable beds with a beautiful bathroom with walk in shower (heavenly)! We had two sun beds in a spacious balcony! We made use of these loungers in the cloudier evenings as it was too warm in the hotter days. Bedroom comes equipped with flatscreen tv (wasn't used too often), iron, ironing board, safe, (free), fridge, large storage space including sliding wardrobes with drawer space.

Pool is great, with a gradual entrance with several other steps. The pool is cold, but once you are in it is lovely. There are always plenty of sun beds, there is no queuing or rushing for beds, which we have seen in other hotels. The pool bar is great with a selection of food and drink and the staff were all lovely. Thought prices of soft drinks were a bit pricey, but I suppose most places on holidays are the same.

We had bed and breakfast and the breakfast was nice with a good variety of food! We ate down the centre of Cala D'Or every night, it's about a 10-15 minute walk with a great selection of bars and restaurants - something for everyone! We went to the Cala D'Or Marina a few nights on a train (€4.50pp hop on hop off - leaflets can be found at hotel reception) and it was lovely with great restaurants and bars. Highly recommend the house of champagne, lovely, reasonably priced cocktails and drinks with a great view, overlooking the marina!

We found that Cala D'Or in general a great place, very clean with a great selection of shops from high end stores to traditional souvenir shops - plenty of selection. The beaches are lovely - with clear blue waters. I particularly liked the Esmeralda beach, it's about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Overall we had a fantastic week and are already looking forward to booking again for next year! We normally like to try different hotels/ locations each year, this is the first that we would definitely return to!

We had read reviews on this hotel going back to August 2016 and right up till we got there beginning of this month, and the reviews(the great ones) are spot on. On arriving at the hotel we were greeted with a lovely cold drink, done the necessary paperwork and informed our room was ready, we already knew the Prime L balcony suites were in the main hotel, so were taken to our room on the 1st floor(1105). The moment the door was opened we knew we were going to have a great holiday, we were in Cala D'or/Cala Ferrera we know these places so well, and love them, and the room was even nicer than any pictures we had seen, frosted glass sliding doors to the bathroom, lovely rainfall shower, plus a normal shower head attached to wall, handy if you don't want to get your hair wet, there is a frosted divide separating the toilet, which for us was no problem, but may not be for everyone. Glass sliding double wardrobe with 3 drawers inside, free safe, iron/ironing board, kettle, 2 cups, no tea or coffee supplied, so if you like a cuppa remember to take your own, slippers and dressing gowns. There is a sofa and table and we were left a bottle of water and a small bottle of wine, which was a lovely touch. The beds are 2 singles pushed together, but they are so comfortable, so are the pillows, and your find 2 quilts in the wardrobe. Good choice of English channels on tv if you want them, and a beautiful big balcony, with a table, 2 sun loungers, if your a sun worshipper like us your love it as you get the sun all afternoon and it is hot, beautiful view of the trees and mountains, and the sound of cockerals cock a doodle doing.

Breakfast had a good choice, we ate out a lot at night purely because that's part of our holiday experience, but the couple of evenings we ate at the hotel the food was good.

Lovely pool, not too deep, and lovely poolside area to have a drink or snack. There is also a balcony with Balinese beds overlooking the pool, and a rooftop terrace with amazing views. At night the hotel looks amazing, all lit up. We enjoyed some good evening entertainment, and during the day there is water aerobics which seemed really popular. Cala Ferrera strip is literally down the hill and up the other side, and Cala D'or is not much further, you can get a cab for around 5 euros.

Last but certainly not least, the staff at Sunprime are amazing, the cleaners keep it spotless, room cleaned every day, reception staff and restaurant staff are really friendly, and the bar staff by the pool, well we cannot praise them enough. Juan, so so funny, lovely man, Eli a little ray of sunshine, and the rest of the girls, always smiling, happy and very efficient, we were so sad to leave, but we loved it so much, we are booked to go back 2nd July 2018 .
.

Everyone has different ideas of what a good hotel is, but try it, you may just fall in love with the place and staff, like me and the hubby have..

Room Tip: Prime L balcony suites are great, big rooms, big balcony with 2 sun loungers, gets sun all afternoon.

First issue was the demand that the tourist tax be paid in cash, this was as I offered a Halifax Clarity card. I queried this later and pointed out that it did not state anywhere on either the Thomas Cook website or the hitel's website that payment had to be in cash. Eventually offered the cash back and to be allowed to use the credit card. This was also raised with the Thomas Cook rep who was of little use.

The room, a large balcony option in the main block, had a damp patch on the ceiling in the bathroom. Sockets that were off level and what I believe was an LED light strip on the balcony that should have been replaced quite sometime ago. The manager at reception had taken the time to walk outside and point at the four star superior rating when the payment of the tourist tax was being discussed. I would not expect to find the faults listed in a hotel with that rating.

Cleanliness:

Cleanliness of the public areas and in particular the pool was very poor. In the two weeks that we were there I only saw the area around the pool being cleaned once and that was a pressure washer. The various bits of paper etc were still there when the pressure washing was finished.

The maid did an outstanding job in the room!

Food:

I had originally booked on a B&B basis but having read reviews decided to pay extra for HB. Big mistake! The food, especially dinner, was not good which meant that we often went out instead.

Drinks:

€2.60 for a 500ml bottle of water - what a rip off! Go to the Spar instead.

Others have commented on the repetitive music used by the fitness instructor (Emma) at the pool for her classes.

Others have also commented on the sky high prices charged at the Sky Bar.
