“Beautiful”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Upon arriving to the apartment we were kindly greeted by Astrid and her husband. They took us up the stairs (not to fun with luggage, but a short distance).
The apartment is in a beautiful area across from Porto and in behind the street of gaia.
We were shown around the apartment which was beautiful and had everything we needed.. including meats, cheeses, and wine :) a gift from Astrid. Thank you
Everything about the apartment is wonderful, the area is beautiful with great views. There is a con however... it is a bit of a distance from Porto side.. about a 30 minute walk to the bridge to cross to get into Porto... a bit of a walk if your doing it daily like we did.
We would recommend this apartment for future travelers just be prepared to walk.

“Walking, eating and drinking in Porto”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed with two friends at the house, which is in Gaia across the river from Porto (and home to ALL of the Port "lodges"). The house is located in a typical local area just outside the main drag. As such it is quieter, but only a few minutes walk to the restaurants of Gaia and a few more to the bridge to Porto. The house is completely modernized, with a view directly over the river. It is clean and modern (think Ikea) and contains everything you need. We were met by the owners who were kind enough to leave us basic provisions. The path to the house is steep with a number of steps, but then again so are all the roads to the Port houses, so you earn the rest/refreshment. We walked both into Porto (several times) and west to Sao Pedro da Afurada, ) a small fishing village and home to a fun fish restaurant, and also the terminal of a tiny ferry that crosses to the north shore, where we found an excellent tapas restaurant.. We had a great time seeing the sights, trying numerous restaurants and walking all the time. Porto has a lot to offer and the house was perfect for our needs (which included watching Germany play Brazil in the restaurant right below the house).

“small paradise in Porto”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

when you walk uphill in Villa nova de Gaia for 48 steps, you might feel tired, but open the door of number 63 and you feel great. The house has more room then you expect from the outside. Beautiful mixture of old elements (wooden floor) and modern architecture (staircase, topfloor made of glass). The view over the river Douro is astonishing. You are 20 minutes away from the centre, the walk by the river is beautiful. A shop around the corner, friendly neighbours. I stayed for 14 days and felt at home from day one
