We wanted to go to an English branded cellar and Taylors, appointed by HM Queen Elizabeth II, had to be it!
Bit of a climb, as it was on the top of the hill, but worth it!
Staff were were very welcoming. Included audio tour was excellent - although slightly confusing as to which buttons to press at times -probably me though!
Learnt lots about port in general and about Taylor's role in it's history and production.
Was the most huge vat you've ever seen in the main cellar and you could take a selfie with it, that you could email to yourself! (I'll have to opt out of the marketing when it starts arriving though!)
Two glasses of port included, all for £15. Good value I would say.

While a bit of a climb up narrow streets from the river this was an highly informative and interesting insight into the making of port and the connection of the port houses with the Douro valley. A nice glass or two to finish off part of the deal.

Beautiful tasting room with knowledgeable staff and stunning surroundings in Gaia. Porto is the home to many ports. Education is important about this historic wine

We visited Taylors Port cellar along with several other port cellars during our stay in Porto and Taylors was the BEST one! Most of the other port cellars require reservations and you are stuck on a guided tour with a big group of other people, at Taylors you can show up any time, grab an audio guide and take the tour at your own pace! It was really nice because my husband and I could stop for pictures or skip certain parts that didn't interest us.

At the end you are given 3 of their signature ports to taste included with your audio guide. We also added on 6 other ports and had cheese, truffles and olives to compliment the port. They have a beautiful outdoor garden to enjoy the ports or an indoor café as well. The servers were super knowledgeable and friendly as well. On top of that, the ports that they produce are the best tasting IMO. We tried the 30 year Tawny at all of the port cellars we visited and Taylors was hands down the most complex and delicious.

If you only have one port cellar to visit when you are in Porto make sure it is Taylors!

This renowned Port House is definitely worth a visit. The history and methods used to produce Ports are told by hand lecturers you control. The story of this family business is very interesting and the way various types of ports are produced very educational. For 15€ pp you get this self guided tour and two samplings of Port wines at the conclusion of the visit. Even my wife got very interested in the process. Great for couples. We were also luck to get into the dining room at 2:15 pm for lunch without reservations, but this isn’t always possible especially on weekends and high seasons. Great view from the dining room of the river area and city. Usually a lunch special is available at 30€pp which included soup or salad, two choices of main meal, a glass of Port or wine, and dessert. We also chose the bread and olive oil to go along with everything. All the food was good, especially the dessert finale (chef surprise). You can sample the Port they provide or order from their menu inside or in their lovely terrace.
