A partially modernised late 19th century villa combines original 15 ft (?) painted ceilings with contemporary art on.the walls and an eclectic collection of furniture and decorations with modern bathrooms. Lovely views over vineyards and distant hills. Short drive to many restaurants. We enjoyed a splendid dinner prepared by the artist host, accompanied by his excellent wines which are available for sale. One minor inconvenience as having only one key to open the gates. 8 of us meant coordinating the return of 2 cars from our excursions. We recommend the cafe on the corner of the 1st square you reach in Impruneta for great coffee and pastries. We parked in that square and took the bus to Florence. Very easy. Buy tickets at the Tabac across the street. The house has a drip coffee maker but take your own filters ... We couldn't find any for sale. The kitchen is very well equipped. The weather was poor on many days so we did not get to use the spa nor the many outdoor seating areas. Stefania was very helpful before and during our stay and we loved meeting her and Rodolfo.
Our stay at Stephania & Rudolfo' 250 yrs plus old beatiful villa, with stunning Tuscan views, is one of our most memorable trips to Italy!
My husband, and daughters, surprised me for my birthday with a 10 course plus amazing Tuscan dinner prepared and served at the villa by Stephania and Rudolfo, with wines paired from their on site boutique winery. It was a surreal evening, everything was perfect, and done with much grace and warmth by Stephania and Rudolfo, who incidenally is multi-talented - an artist, winemaker, chef. The dinner lingered well into the evening, a beautiful Tuscan experience etched in our memory. We would be back in a heartbeat!
Our hosts Stefania and Rudolfo made our stay a perfect first experience in Italy. This very spacious villa is located in a breathtaking countryside setting where they make their own excellent estate wines and olive oil. It is well maintained and filled with antiques and amazing original art. We shared the villa with three other couples and everyone enjoyed their own private space in a super comfortable rooms with private baths. We enjoyed making our own meals in a fully equipped cook's kitchen and our hosts also arranged for us to have incredible tuscan meals prepared for us that were off the charts. The villa is a nice scenic drive away from Florence and is minutes away from Impruneta where we found great stores, restaurants, and friendly locals. We really enjoyed the pool, billiards, ping pong and bocce ball and relaxing on the patio just outside the kitchen.
Such a wonderful place; we will have very happy memories of our stay at the villa forever. The villa is palatial and historically fascinating; the grounds are just as beautiful as you imagine Tuscany to be. The views are breathtaking. We all slept well from the first night, which is unusual for us when away from home.
Stefania and Rodolpho were fabulous hosts; the Tuscan meal that they prepared for us was delicious and the evening was extremely interesting and entertaining.
We visited Florence and Siena, both of which are beautiful. Il duomo is staggeringly beautiful and has to be seen in person to be appreciated fully. The whole area is quite magical and the local people are very friendly and helpful.
The food from the local co-op is so fresh: white onions that you can slice and eat as they are, strawberries and tomatoes that smell and taste like they used to, fresh olives, lemons, delicious baked bread and superb cheeses - pecarino being one of our favourites.
I have felt so much more healthy and energised since our stay and am preparing Italian meals, as they feel so much more healthy. Gnudoni is a favourite - cheese and spinach dumplings - divine.
The driving takes a bit of getting used to, but my husband soon adjusted.
If you are thinking about renting the villa, don't hesitate - you won't regret it. This holiday, for us, was the holiday of a lifetime.
Thank you so much to Stafania, Rodolpho and Max for making out stay so special.
I just returned to the US after a 2 week stay at the villa with my wife and 2 grown children. The villa and our hosts far exceeded our expectations.
Greve is a fabulous location and very accessible to Florence and many small towns in the Chianti region. We had a car for transportation but you can take a bus very close by into Florence.
The Villa is a 400 year old estate with incredible character. It is well equipped for a large group to enjoy together and still have your privacy. The grounds are beautifully groomed with a very large terrace overlooking vineyards and valleys. Fresh fig and olive trees are all over the property.
Our hosts Rodolpho and Stephania were very accommodating and were eager to assist us with making recommendations, reservations and plans for day trips. They even cooked an authentic Tuscan dinner for us.
We loved staying at the villa and would definitely recommend it to others.
