Excellent location, the rooms are wonderful and perfectly kept.
You can't beat the views from the villa, the decor and the gardens.
The restaurant and their wines are terrific also.
Will definitely go back

We stayed at Vignamaggio for 3 nights after a fun but hectic tour of Rome and Florence. the location is heaven, with lovely views of Tuscan landscape, amazing gardens and lovely swimming pools.
We had a stone villa which was charming. The rooms were a great size, the bathroom was quite large, and the bedroom was a good size and very comfortable. There was also a small living room/kitchenette, which we never used, because the weather was beautiful and we preferred to sit on the patio.
We found the staff very friendly and helpful. All the common rooms have coffee and sweets in the morning and wine all day. We're not big breakfast eaters, so coffe and a small sweet was enough for us, though I heard their breakfast were great. We ate dinner there one night and the food was very good.
It's a great location, good for just hiking and walking around the counrtyside, or well located for day trips to some of the wonderful walled towns that make Tuscany so much fun to explore. We would defintitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Definitely take the tour of the wine cellars. It's very impressive. Sandro is a very entertain...

Sorry to say. The place is great, the grounds and views still stunning, but got the feeling this trip that Vignamaggio is more concerned about the agri part of agritourismo than the tourists.
Lots of little things like not being about to park next to the villa, gates and locked doors abound, elevator "closed" at night, portions of villa sitting rooms now locked off, Wifi that worked, as long as you moved your chair next the door. Finally, no real heat. When we asked they very politely informed us that no individual heat in rooms, and central heat turned on a few hours at a time when the lows were in the 40s and highs in the 50s.
Staff was as helpful as ever and these complaints are only directed at a management style that has changed over the 10+ years we have been visiting. If we come back next year in Sept, we will stay again. If we come in Oct like now, we will probably go elsewhere as a place of this level of quality should not be worrying about the heating bill (to paraphrase JP Morgan, if you have to worry about the heating bill, you can't afford to own the place).

It was our third stay in Vignamaggio. The two previous visits were part of a Italy vacation for two. Our past impressions were of the beautiful location, the easy access to Greve and all parts of Chianti (from Florence to Sienna), the careful restoration of the villa and the quality of the facility. This time we had 4 children with us. Though nothing has changed, other than for the good (now there is even a small spa), it is not a place for families. Not because of the facility or the welcome from the staff. As Vignamaggio is on the expensive side to begin with, with children it is just difficult to justify the value (just take the 14 Euro breakfast and multiply by 6). We will definitely come again, but only as a couple.

Room Tip: Try the Leonardo suite...

Great place for first time visitor but real " Tuscan FAN "
I was there with my closed friends , it was my 4th time in Tuscany but first time for the rest of the group. " This place is a great introduction for the Tuscan lover" I can say!
There are full of Tuscan features and experience , walking along a vineyard in the morning ,having siesta on the panoramic terrace , uncorking bottles of real Chianti but local price , swimming under a Tuscan sun , driving on the white road to the great local( but world class )restaurant along Tuscan hills and sleeping under the Tuscan cray roof .
We 'd stayed here for 3 nights (it was very hard to find a self catering cottage less than a week in Tuscan ) The hotel has got 2 clusters , reception and a main villa on the top and the farm house cluster down the hill . The villa on the Top is more like Hotel 's room , grand size , high ceiling , very good taste and real decoration's feature. Of x, The Building is very beautiful and elegant both of Architecture and its Interior , but as it is a very old classic building , most of rooms are dimmed and not so airy . There is a self catering apartment above the reception too.
The We decided to stay in a lower cluster , as we 'd preferred small cozy space of stone cottage and self-catering facility . And we did a right choice.
There were a compliment Breakfast as in many Italian hotels . It was good quality , so you can have a breakfast under a grave pergola with and classic view of the Tuscan hills.
There are two swimming pools both are small but enough , complimentary spa products are very good quality.
NOTE
Staff was not too friendly , we were ok with thier service.
Dinner , make a trip to http://www.ristorodilamole.com/
Their office and small lobby have some information about the area ., and English speeking.
Supermarket in the village is also good , buying your Tuscan ingredients and cook for yourself some dinner .
Price , not so cheap but cheaper than its quality.
Enjoy !

Room Tip: A stone cottage , lower cluster ( casolese) is more airy and cozy , ask for units on the upper flo...
