Our dishes are made with fresh, seasonal hight quality ingredients, following old traditional receipes, with a personal modern touch. Our speciality are: plates with fresh truffle, appetizer with fresh and local meat-cuts (tuscan ham, salami, sausage) and cheeses, hand-made pasta, wildboard, the real Florentine-style steak, hand-made cakes. From our cellery: local Chianti wines from the best farms, red-wines like Brunello, Montepulciano, Chianti Classico, selected wines from all Italy. During the summer you can dine on our terrace over-looking the wonderful hills.

We were recommended to try La Castellana by our hotel. It was a great meal! The restaurant is located near a small village with a historic church. There are limited tables ... seats about 15 people. The chef rotates the menu based on what is available. We had an appetizer (melted cheese with truffles), pasta (tortellini filled with soft cheese with truffle and pistachio sauce) and steaks. The pasta was exceptional. I used bread to get every drop of the sauce. The appetizer and main meal were very good. Service was very good and atmosphere was casual, everyone breaking bread together.

This is worth making a trip if you are within 30 minutes. We tried to go back the next night, but alas, all booked!

We went there on recommendation of our hotel since we were looking for dishes with truffles. It was the culinary highlight of our stay around Radda. The beef carpaccio with truffles, the steak with truffles and the ravioli were perfect. Great and friendly service of Thomas and his colleagues. The wine recommendation was great as well. You will have to make a reservation since the number of seats is limited. This restaurant alone is a good reason to go back to the region.

Having read other reviews about this restaurant, it was a must visit during our time in Tuscany. It didn't disappoint. Food was excellent, service knowledgable and efficient without being fussy, great wines. Over one week we dined here twice for lunch and on our last night in the region.

This restaurant is in a stunning location with magnificent views. But what really makes it so exceptional are the owners. We booked this restaurant for our pre-Wedding dinner following a wonderful meal here back in October 2017.
The owners met our every need and more, accommodating for all 30 people in their stunning outdoor terrace. With some vegetarians among us they also did everything they could to ensure everyone was happy. Despite being a large party this was the best meal we had in Tuscany, by far. Not only was it the best meal but we were served a huge amounts of food, with every course wonderful, we left full to the brim, and it was the most affordable!!
So good in fact we went back another group meal on our last night.
The owners are lovely, the food fantastic and the setting absolutely stunning! I cannot wait to go back. Thank you so much for everything you really made our wedding week. ☺️

We drove a couple of kilometers from Greve to a small medieval town called Montefioralle where we had reserved a table at Ristorante La Castellana. We arrived early enough for a walk around town, which was special in its beauty and preservation and pre-dinner was a good time to see it since most tourists had left. A very small town with one circular road, it didn’t take long to circumnavigate the entire place.

La Castellana, one of the few restaurants in town, is located on the left of the road going up the hill and is easily missed just before town. Parking is an issue here. Upon arriving at the village, there is a three-minute stop light for timed access to a road leading downhill to the left. Turning right at the light, the small parking lot is usually full but tourist turnover in town is fast so patience will be rewarded.

La Castellana is a charming place with an outdoor terrace across the road overlooking a spectacular valley. Since it was threatening rain we opted for an inside table. We began dinner with starters of carciofi, cipollini, olives and pepperoncini and another platter of bruschetta with Tuscan beans. This was followed by a heavenly dish of tortelli stuffed with ricotta cheese and lemon zest with an enveloping cream sauce of gorgonzola and walnuts, and a second splendid dish of pappardelle with wildboar sauce. No, it was not the same wild boars that threaten our vineyard but nonetheless I did feel a bit of sweet revenge on their kind. The drive back down the hill to Greve and back again up the gravel road to our agriturismo was softened by the memory of the wines we shared, a Super Tuscan Bolgheri and a 2012 Berardo Chianti Classico Riserva. Sharing glasses of wine instead of a bottle allowed us to sample more wines and also steadied our hand for the twisty road home.
