I chose Al Ritrovo so we could drive there from Catania airport without having to navigate through Piazza Armerina in the dark. We did not arrive at the hotel in the best of moods. After chaos at the airport car rental desk, and then the chaos of Sicilian road signs, we arrived after their restaurant had closed, and most things were in darkness.
So we went to bed tired and hungry. Luckily the bed was comfortable, and the room quiet (even though the hotel is sandwiched between two roads), so we slept well. And breakfast was worth waiting for. Served in the sunny walled garden, there was a good spread of sweet and savoury. We left much happier than we arrived! Maybe next time we might get to try the restaurant.More
