Very lovely peaceful location in the rolling hills of Puglia, dotted with trulli, historic ruins and and some interesting wildlife. Great place to go for a relaxed stroll after a busy day. Staff very friendly, loved my room in the main building, very stylish. The only thing lacking here was a table and chair to sit and do a bit of writing. Good bed!
Dinner was excellent.
The only thing that let this place down in my opinion was breakfast. This was not a matter of quality (though a boiled or scrambled egg would have been nice) but of organization. You have a group of 40 Dutch guests who have breakfast at 8 o'clock, and you are halfway trough stocking the buffet at 8 o'clock- bad planning. Because all these people will be there at precisely 8 o'clock, and love to eat bread with cheese.
Two loaves of bread are on the table, and a plate with 30 or so slices of cheese. This of course evaporates within seconds, and then the staff take a long time to restock these vital items. Meanwhile, they are trying to serve tea and coffee, but are so busy restocking the buffet that these arrive at the tables late and cold. And at the very end, when everybody is done eating, suddenly cannisters of warm milk are brought to the tables. Mustard after the meal!
All of this annoyance could have been avoided if the staff had started just a bit earlier. From the chaos and baffled looks on their faces it seemed like this was the first time they were doing this, but I doubt that was the case. They just needed to be managed better.
Other than that, great place and I highly recommend it.
