Have just arrived back from staying 10 nights in the Aragona Palace, what a beautiful hotel, it was a great surprise to us on arrival... the look of the hotel which was surrounded by shrubs in pots, there was settees and seats all around the outside of the hotel, which is situated 20ft from the water and has smallish day trip boats moored, so if you feel the need to go on a boat on an island trip around Ischia or maybe a trip to Capri.. ask hotel reception.. which leads me to the hotel, the girls on reception are great and are happy to chat and pick the best places that they think you would love.. the restaurant is one of the best we have eaten at.. beautiful meals.. bedrooms lovely and comfy and so clean .. roof terrace fabulous which looks over the harbour it has a small pool and terraces that seem to go up to the clouds .. so much more i could say.. but hey! Try the Arazona Palace yourself ..

We were here for 4 nights recently, would've happily stayed a few more.
Location is great, walking distance to everywhere worth going. It is also a nice long stroll to Castello Aragonese.
The superior room is good size, comes with a balcony and a view of the harbour. Sitting on the balcony with a bottle of wine late every night enjoying the warm breeze was very relaxing. But bear in mind it could get a little noisy if you leave the balcony doors opened. Bed very comfortable. The only thing is that it could be cleaned a bit better.
Bathroom is a little small but didn't bother us.
Staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We got some good tips from them on day 1 on where to go on the island (glad we took their recommendation!).
Had breakfast only once, not a great selection but it was good enough.
The hotel bar is good for drinks after dinner, as well as a quick sandwich for brunch. Their wine is quite good too, surprisingly better than most wine we tried at other restaurants.
Overall we had a great stay, thank you.

My finance and I travelled to this hotel for 5 nights in September and couldn't fault the location, harbour side and within easy walking distance to the local shops, which includes a mixture of clothing and gift stores, as well as a little supermarket and pharmacy.

Our room (303) was standard and therefore had no view but was clean and comfortable with the world's best shower - so powerful it was almost painful! The only problem we had was that the bed was two singles pushed together but with no zip link so they had a tendency to drift apart in the night - on one occasion tearing the sheet.

The reception and restaurant staff are lovely and helpful, the English spoken tends to vary, as does the translation of the menu. The breakfast was very good including fresh fruit, cooked choices, cheese, pastries and even cake! I think if we returned we would opt for bed and breakfast as there are so many local restaurants within a very short distance and although the antipasti in the evening was superb, we found the menu a little restrictive, with only one choice for vegetarians out of the four options available daily.

The sun terrace on the roof is lovely and offers wonderful views. There are four different areas and at the time we went we travelled, each were very quiet. There is a poolside bar up there which if not manned, had a phone to call down and request drinks or snacks. The pool is quite odd as it is warm, not refreshing when you are hot when need a cool dip but you do feel the benefit when you get out again.

The indoor pool is warm too and has wall buttons that produce bubbles and a power shower, very lovely and relaxing.

We made full use of the salon facilities, having massages, facials and a thermal mud wrap which was amazing. I highly recommend treating yourself to something. English was quite limited among the therapists but we didn't find this too much of a problem.

Ischia itself is beautiful and we would definitely recommend doing the boat trip around the island, tickets are available from reception or from the ticket office just in front of the hotel. We also did a day trip to nearby Capri and took a stunning boat trip around that island too - this was equally as good as the Ischia trip and again would be recommended.

Overall we loved our time on this lovely island and at this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a standard room and therefore no view but the room was fine and the shower was amazing!

Stayed a week in September 2017, on half board. Paid for a room upgrade to superior, which got us a balcony, harbour view, and slightly bigger room.
Good bits-
1. Location-this hotel is on the harbour/port. A short stroll to the main shopping area, and numerous restaurants. Supermarket 200m. Bus station nearby, ferry port 300m.
2. Pool is heated to just above body temperature, and is kept very clean.
3. Spa pool is clean, warm and tranquil.
4. Roof terrace has plenty of sun beds.
5. Linen, towels clean and plentiful.
6. Bed comfy, big, but creaky.
7. Balcony looked over harbour.
8. Restaurant staff were very attentive and wanted to please. Food was nice, two of the four courses were served at the table. Menus tended to repeat the basics, but had a variety of additions, e.g. Risotto every day, but with, seafood, squid, veg, aubergine etc etc. Menu always had steak as an option. Most dishes were served with a couple of sautéed potatoes, no veg. ( though cold grilled veg was available from a buffet, as a starter or side).
9. Breakfast concentrated on cakes and biscuits. Basic cereal selection, and a selection of meats, cheeses, fruits etc. Coffee was ok. Plentiful quantity.
10. Free safe, slippers and gowns.
11. Reception staff extremely helpful. Special mention to Maria, a lovely lady.

Bad-
1. Location- due to being on the port, it was noisy. Ferry,s , traffic , people, noisy 24 hours a day. Weekend were noisy, even in early hours.
2. Mosquitos- our room had regular mozzys, even though we were diligent. Think they were coming from the aircom. Reception, ( thanks Maria) lent us mozzy machine and tablets, and fly spray.
3. Room had squashed mozzys on the ceiling ( not from us, but from before us).
4. attached bar prices were steep.
5. Wine €20-35 bottle
6. Pool area tiles looking tired and cracked, badly in places
