“overall really lovely and recommended”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

- excellent standard of accommodation
- wonderful outside terrace for lunch - plenty of space, south facing
- very clean and well maintained
- spacious bedrooms, plenty of storage
- quiet rooms
- comfortable beds and pillows
- dressing gowns and slippers provided
- great bathrooms with shower and bath (not both in all rooms though - need to check)
- fabulous food,
- friendly, helpful staff

- tiny boot room/badly sited ski storage, which is a nightmare every morning, lunchtime and afternoon as ALL the ski classes start/finish at the same time. Ridiculous. If they just staggered the times it wouldn't be so congested
- seating area around the bar is quite limited, so in the evenings some people have to sit out in the reception area, or in the upper level which isn't very atmospheric
- dining room lighting is a bit stark
- hair dryers are those fixed on the wall types - the handles you hold get super-hot - would be much better to have ordinary hairdryers plugged into the room somewhere
- some distance from town, so slightly isolated, but fine for a week's holiday
- no shop to speak of, just a few pairs of goggles/t shirts/suncream on sale

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room which are much bigger than normal but no extra cost............ also ask for s...

We stayed as a family of 5 for 1 week, having driven up ourselves. Our 3 kids are under 5 years.

About Meribel
We found info on this hard to come by, hence this entry. We have one child needing creche care. This Club Med openly does not have a creche. We had to send ours to the nearest one which is in La Chaudanne. To get there you need to either walk uphill then catch the cable car down to La Chaudanne, or take the free shuttle bus. A better alternative (speaking with a local French family there) might have been to share a babysitter with another family. Our older two children were in ski school, which is a short walk, albeit across the lower end of a piste, from the hotel. At the beginning these seemed a hassle, but after a couple of days, we settled into a routine. You just have to accept that you are not skiing for 8 hours a day with 3 little kids in tow.

Great...car was unloaded, we were welcomed with a drink and gotten into our room in no time

Slightly dated, but spacious and comfortable. We had 3 bedrooms - one upstairs we didn't even use. Our only complaint about the room was over a week dust tended to accumulate, which wasn't cleaned...dustballs floating around the room are off-putting.

Full-board - brilliant. Friendly staff. Great quality, range and presentation of food. Buffet style with a couple of station chefs. Catered well for the kids too. This was a real highlight, especially lunch on the terrace in the sun.

The indoor-outdoor pool was a little too cool. The gym was simple, and could do with more equipment.

This review might sound a little critical, but we have stayed at many ski resorts and know how hard logistically it must be to run - you can't compare them with a metropolitan hotel. In spite of these criticisms, we still rated this place very highly because it is one of the best two in-snow places we have stayed at, and we would certainly come back if we went back to Meribel.

Great Place for fabulous food. Not quite ski in/out as you have to walk 100 yards to the piste but the rooms, food and the general friendliness of the staff is excellent

1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2008

This was my second time ever skiing ,my father had taken us my sister and myself to Meribel Aspen Park last February and I must say I had a truly magnificent time ,so therefore I have returned with two friends and staying at the Antares ,the rooms were very nice but unfortunately that is all I can say ,we were misinformed as I had asked whether it was ski in ski out and was told yes , also the staff are very indifferent and very unhelpful also the food is very sustandard , we are making the best of a bad situation also to top it all I had to hire a car to get to meribel and I was charged to park the car which was 70 euros
I will be filling in a declaration form while I am here but also my mother who writes for a couple of travel companies is furious as she helped pay for the holiday is in the process of making a report, I guess a company which has been operating a number of years has now become complacent and I feel that is very dangerous in such a volatile market .
yours sincerely James Woollcott
