We were delayed by the ferry crossing and by traffic congestion in Paris by around 2 hours. We had intended to arrive at the property in Varetz by about 8.30pm. We called just before 8.00pm to inform the owners of our delayed arrival and to arrange a revised time of about 10.30pm. They agreed, and asked us to contact the owner on arrival at the house, which we did at 10.55pm. Imagine the horror!! They informed us that the owner had been unable to wait, and that we 'must' find hotel accommodation. In fairness we were also told that we had been left a voicemail earlier, informing us of the owner's decision. We found this to be true, although we were oblivious of the call and neither was there any trace on our phone's home screen of either a voice message or a missed call. Unsurprisingly we failed to find a hotel in this very rural part of France and about 1.00am, we decided to throw in the towel and go home. Evidently neither the owner or Wyndham Vacation Rentals/Novasol consider the owner's behaviour unreasonable and have therefore refused to refund us. They did though, offer us vouchers instead, but I should point out that we paid them with real money, not vouchers. You may well sympathise with their behaviour, but nevertheless, beware, you have been warned.
