I was not anticipating such a wonderful sight. The main active crater is quite breathtaking, especially in scale with plenty of viewpoints. Constant Sulphorous emissions, very dramatic. There are also some lovely views of Lake Nicaragua and northwards towards the main volcanic chain. Do visit, you will not be disappointed.

going up was kind of fun because of the steep angle. Visited the coffee plantation, went on a hike which could have been quicker. Lots of fauna and butterflies. Tour guide was knowledgeable about volcano and plant species as well. Also went zip-lining, very fun and the guys working there made it a blast!

A not to be missed sight. Well worth a trip to both the volcano and the museum. It's history is interesting and it is beautiful. We went during the daytime, but I've been told an evening visit is also worthwhile.

You can catch the bus in Granada, take the little "cabs" up to the park. You are transported up to the top of the volcano and have several options for hikes, the more strenuous require a guide with an extra fee. Beautiful views, plants, birds.

We took a cab from Granada central park to Mombacho park entrance for $10 or 200 cordobas. Note that the park is not the same as the canopy tour. The canopy tour is before the park entrance so don't go in if you don't want to hike around the jungle. We went in, paid $15 us per person then waited a half hour for the truck. It goes up the mountain about half an hour, you walk a circle around a crater that is all just jungle too, we saw nothing but trees. The first mirador, or viewpoint, gives you a wicked view of Granada, the lake and the isletas. After that we saw nothing. We went back to the shack and waited for the ride down, because we thought you come down the mountain on the zip-line, but were misinformed. Our poor taxi was waiting so we had to pay him another $100 C to wait for us. We were a little upset the park rangers knew what we were trying to do but didn't seem to care. We got to the canopy tour and it was $25 us for adults and $20 for our 7 year-old girl. The 4 of us had 4 guides, they fitted us up with gear, gloves and helmets and drove us up to the first platform. These guys spoke English well, and were very professional and safety oriented. Jose took our 7 yr-old tandem, and she can be antsy but felt safe and comfortable with him, to the point that she went solo a couple of times. This was our favorite attraction in Granada and you should not miss it. There was a troupe of howler monkeys near one of the platforms and they were maybe 20 feet away from us. It was great, and worth every penny!
