This is a very sweet and charming home in Granada. The home is open concept with two small bedrooms being the only areas that can be completely closed from the outside. The home is decorated nicely with some beautiful traditional local furnishings and art and the kitchen was nicely stocked including wine glasses. There is a small plunge pool which is a real plus in the extreme heat of Granada. The down side is that Granada was stifling hot and the small room air conditioners have a difficult time cooling the bedrooms, the bathroom doors are extremely small and there is constant noise from neighbors, dogs and roosters. We find the noise adds to the character and I appreciate the heat but must admit that it was not the most comfortable sleep we have had. With that said would recommend casa colonial as a memorable stay.

Thank you for your review. I agree it was extremely hot during your stay as this is the hottest part of the year for us. I will have someone look at the air conditioning units to ensure they are working properly. Thank you again and we look forward to having you stay with us in the future.

“Great value with this larger than expected, open concept garden home, only 4 blocks from Calzada.”

I loved the open concept of this home, with 2 separate gardens and a small 'pool' to cool off in during the day or evening. It was much larger than expected, with the living room at the front and the bedrooms and kitchen and gardens at the back. There were lots of appliances and a gas stove for preparing meals.
Hummingbirds were spotted in the rear garden throughout the day. There are speakers placed throughout, so you could hear music in most of the rooms if you had the stereo on. Most of the lighting is on dimmers so you can set your own 'mood lighting' at night.
The bedrooms have comfortable beds and quiet split a/c units and a ceiling fan, which kept the room cool during sleeping times. There's also a daybed in the LR for an extra person.
The maid comes in every morning at 9 for 3 hours to clean the place, which was appreciated. Your first large just of water is free and only $2 if you need another one.
The Calzada was only 4 blocks south and easily walked any time of the day or night. The only complaint was the sound of barking dogs late or early morning on occasion. I had ear plugs and had to put them to use a couple of times. All said, I would rent this place again and definitely recommend it to friends. You can rent a couple of small Hotel rooms for about the same, but there's much more 'value added' if you stay here.

“We loved it!”

We arrived about nine pm. A man was waiting for us, all the fairy lights on. He handed us the key and then rode off on his bicycle. It looked magical at night! My husband and I were traveling with our two children, 20 and 22. There are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom. At first we laughed at the tiny pool but it gets hot in Granada and at times all four of us were in it. The kitchen is well-appointed and our favorite appliance was the blender - we made smoothies every morning. The house is comfortable and full of atmosphere, with a beautiful, well-maintained tropical garden. There is a living area with TV, movies, and books, but we never used it. Much better to be in one of the hammocks sleeping or reading a book.

I was very impressed with the property management firm, GPS. They are very efficient. When we arrived there was a full water bottle for us and when we ran out and I e-mailed the office, within half an hour a replacement arrived. There is a maid assigned to each of their properties. Carla has worked for GPS for 10 years and is there every day from 9 to 12 cleaning. She will also do your laundry. The property is completely secure, with two padlocks and a key lock, so you can leave the door open in the evening if you wish, with only the locked iron gate. Location is excellent - a ten minute walk to the main square in a very quiet neighborhood. We all loved Granada - there is a surprise around every corner, and I would stay at Casa Colonial again in an instant.
