I was pleased to stay at the Hotel Jardin with my best friend on a quick one night visit through Granada. We were nervous after hearing stories of the current situation in Nicaragua, but were pleased to find Granada is trying to make its way back onto the map and although quiet, was very safe and enjoyable.

This hotel is a boutique style property on a small piece of land to the northwest of the main sites in the colonial center of town. Within easy walking distance of approximately 6-8 blocks, we were able to navigate on foot throughout our stay. It is a brightly colored building, concurrent with the colorful style of most Spanish colonial properties, set on a fairly mundane street and guarded with a fence and security entrance. There is a pharmacy next door and a grocery store within about six blocks.

The rooms are basic, although very clean and well maintained. Nothing particularly special about the decor, but clean and functional. They include air conditioning, a closet, a safe, and a sliding patio door out to a pretty patio are with rocking chairs. We found the mattresses to be fairly uncomfortable, however, this may just be a personal preference. Our shower was not functioning properly, and the property owner was quick to address the issue.

The property itself features a tiny kidney-shaped pool - be warned, it's chilly even on the hottest of days. A ghosted swim up bar reminds visitors of what may have been, so plan to either purchase a beer from the ladies who also work as cooks, or BYOB. The breakfast is served poolside, and the servers are attentive and accurate with ordering. Michael, the owner, was very helpful as we coordinated our stay and responded promptly to all of our messages, even assisting us with coordinating a shuttle and driver.

Some of the highlights:
-This property is a great bargain. Well priced!
-The owners are kind and generous people who make guests feel welcome.
-It is within walking distance of several highlights in the city.

Areas for improvement:
-Compared to some other Granada properties, it lacked a bit of charm and character that Granada is known for.
-The breakfast options are limited and the food portions are small.
-Not sure why this property advertises itself as a "spa." We had to go elsewhere to accommodate our spa requests as they have limited staff and availability.

Thanks, Michael!

Room tip: Ground floor - walk out to gardens and pool

Dear Soni
Thanks you very much for your review and staying with us.
With some points I'm disagree with you :-)
Breakfast options are limited...We have 8 different breakfast to choose from..I think it's enough..and you stayed just 1 night with us.
Tiny pool? We have a 60000 liter pool, 12 meter long....few hotels in Granada have a bigger one ;-)
Spa: You told me that you like to have a massage for 2 person on the same time...I explained to you that we have just 1 massage table and just one massage lady working for us. So we can only attend 1 person at the same time.

Just let me say that the tourism is down right now in Nicaragua, and all hotel or restaurant owners are working very hard that they don't have to close the business.
Less guests, less staff...thanks for understanding.
Greetings
Michael/Marcia and staff

Superb small hotel with everything you need. Beautiful rooms with balconies and rocking chairs. WiFi good. Breakfasts ; superb - choice of different types ; Swiss / German / American and Nicaraguan. The owners are Swiss and Guatemalan couple who have worked hard to build such a beautiful space. Garden / pools with swim to bar. Great spa treatments too. The owner is so helpful. Don’t delay - you will not regret staying here.

Had a great time at this beautiful hotel last week with my party of 4. The pool area is extremely clean and nice. The nice warm water of the pool was so refreshing after a long day.

The rooms were very spacious and clean. No complaints at all! Food was great and the staff was very nice. On our last night, we didn't want to go out, so we ordered a pizza and enjoyed it poolside :)

I highly recommend staying here!

Quiet and clean, this place is very nice to stay. The owner is very friendly and the breakfasts are very good. It is quiet because it is not in the center but you can easy walk in 5 minutes.
I recommend this place to families and couples.

We arrived at the hotel and were let in through the security gate, once on the other side of the gate you are in another land. They have made a beautiful, paradise-like garden. Michael greeted us and showed us to our room on the second floor. There we saw the new and comfortable bed and relaxing balcony. The restroom had new fixtures and was very clean.
We used the pool every day while we were there. There is a swim up bar, but at the time of our visit, tourism is down and has made things very slow, causing the pool bar to be closed. This did not in anyway reflect in the service. Michael and the other employees were all too happy to bring us beers and Flor de Cana rum to the pool to enjoy.
Breakfast each day was delicious and homemade by Marcia. We chose either American or Traditional and it changed each morning, the homemade bread is so amazing and great with the coffee.

We were able to walk to the cathedral plaza each day with no issues. Michael was very helpful, providing us with a map and offering to set up tourist activities with trusted groups.

We enjoyed talking with the family and were so happy to see the family celebrate Marcia's birthday.

If we can return to Nicaragua, we would definitely return to Hotel Jardin and enjoy the amazing grounds and hospitality.
