Our trip to Koh Chang was perfect, not in the least because of our stay at Klong Kloi Cottage.
The rooms are basic: a full sized bed and a pretty bare bathroom but with the location on the beach, you'll barely be in your room anyways. We took a beach-front cottage for 500 Baht/night with a fan (they have ones with air conditioning for 800 Baht/night) but take one of the cheaper ones (for either 250 or 350) since there's really no difference in location.
The beach is nice, quiet, private, very clean and relaxing. We went swimming every day despite some clouds and windy weather. In comparison to some of the other beaches we saw on Koh Chang, the beach here was very calm since it's protected by the little cove that Bang Bao is in. We borrowed the motorbike from one of the kitchen ladies one day- she let us ride it around the island for hours! No extra fees, here.
But what we loved the best was the staff and the food. The Cambodian boys were so friendly and always smiling. The staff interacted very comfortably with one another and everyone helped out where needed. The food was also an extremely pleasant surprise. We weren't expecting anything too great but everything was fantastic! (The spring rolls and paneng curry are both must-tries).
We recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, relaxing getaway in paradise.More
