The Cafe is very ordinary in its decor, but the food we had there was wonderful. We had ordered an Aloo paratha, which came crisp on the outside and utterly soft inside, with dahi and Achaar.

It was a very hot day ....at least 43 degrees celsius and we were thirsty and very hungry. The cold Sweet lassi was just perfect and when the Aloo parathas arrived, and we had our first bite....it really hit the spot!

This was actually recommended by our guide who took us around Maheshwar....very good advice indeed!

We stayed in the Beekeeper room at Labbooz's and loved it. The room is gorgeous and the food in the cafe delicious. The manager of the cafe was incredibly helpful. He got us a car to Mandu and introduced us to people in Maheshwar. What a lovely town!

Labboo was royal chauffer and hence named after him. Labboo is corrupted form of Lakshman as the royal kids couldnt pronounce his name.
His "bike" has been mounted on the wall for display.
A quiet clean place for long chat.

Firstly, this place is two things- a quiet leafy cafe which serves decent fare at reasonable prices. The cafe is probably the best in town, but not something that takes your breath away.

The more interesting part of this establishment is the lodge, where we stayed for a night. It was certainly unique, staying inside the fort's guardhouse. The lodge can be booked online on booking.com, and the process is a little cumbersome, but worth the effort. We stayed at the very top in a room called Bee Eater. You get 360 degree views of the surroundings, a private rooftop terrace which is an ideal location to sip on early morning tea, and a well decorated room. The shower and toilet arrangement in the room is a clever invention, it somehow works without disturbing the harmony of the room.

It is located a short distance from the inspiring Ahilyabai museum, it's more fancied cousin the hotel inside Ahilya Fort , the Rehwa society shop, and the Narmada ghats.

I work in Maheshwar for weeks at a time, and go to Labboo'z at least once a day. It is a home away from home because it is comfortable, clean and a relatively quiet green oasis in a busy part of town. During the past couple of years, the menu choices, the quality of the food, and the ambiance have all improved. It has gone from being a sort of default choice -- given that there is no similar place in town -- to a place I look forward to going to. Thank you Labboo'z!
