“Unusual venue in a rural town”

Edo Grill and Sushi
Ranked #7 of 50 Restaurants in Moneta

There aren't many options for ethnic dining in southern Virginia. I was very surprised to find that people who enjoy sushi ranked Edo Grill very highly. We don't eat sushi, but we had a very nice dinner from the menu. Prices were reasonable, the food was excellent (although generously salted). Altogether a fine night out.
The sushi menu was extensive. Since we didn't partake, I can't remark on the quality.

Went with friends and 2 ordered the beef and broccoli and I ordered sesame chicken. The beef tasted like it was coated in flour before prepared and friends said it was tasteless. Sesame chicken was ok but I have had better. The sushi plates delivered to other tables near us looked amazing but beware of the Chinese food options.

Our waitress was fantastic, we wanted a Japanese dinner experience since we were married on Okinawa Japan. She explained that we would not be able to get a real Japanese meal, this was Americanized Japanese. She suggested the sushi and a teppanyaki dish. My husband was skeptical. The meal was delicious, the chef made our meal as authentic as he could because he knew what we wanted. After the meal they surprised us with 2 Japanese donuts on a plate with chocolate sauce spelling out Happy 31st Anniversary. Domo Arigato to the waitress and chefs.

Visiting a friend in this area of rural Virgina and on a lark looked for a sushi restaurant
A more than pleasant surprise, the sushi was above average, the shumai and pork dumplings excellent!.
The owners whom do all the cooking and serving were more than genuinely friendly and as such the service was great.
overall a great experience.
highly recommended for anybody passing through south central .Virginia.

We've driven by numerous times and the last time we decided to venture in. The restaurant was about half full when we got there and by the time we got served our meal was full. From couples to partners to families, the hostess (assumed owner) raced from table to table with ease. Her daughter occasionally came out of the kitchen to help seat people, serve food and pick up payments for meals. We never felt rushed and got served our dinner in a timely fashion.

The food was tasty and plentiful. While my husband had sushi and a seaweed salad, I opted for a full meal (shrimp, beef and chicken combo) and steamed dumplings appetizer. There was plenty left over to take home and enjoy a day later. All reasonably priced.

We definitely will go back. It will be interesting to see how they fare with increased traffic in the summer months.
