This charming gourmet limited menu (5-6 appetizers, main courses and desserts) restaurant near Gordonsville competes in value with the best in the mid Atlantic region. With five in our party, including two Brooklyn foodies, we decided to sample nearly all the menu items. The wine list is also fairly short but thoughtful and moderately priced. The appetizers including a special steamed squid, the main courses (they were out of the duck, but the lamb, quail, shrimp-crab, salmon and squid were excellent. However the desserts were the real five star performers including the brûlée and "etalocohc" chocolate. All the food was presented in style befitting a first class establishment. With very attentive but unobtrusive service (contrary to one review our water glasses were kept full), a quiet eighteenth century setting and a reasonable price $62.50 per person) we were delighted to say the least.
