An old General Store which probably sold just about everything retains a charm reflected by excellent and attentive staff and good if not overly complicated food. A good selection but not endless reflects the local and fresh seasonal produce and whether it’s a more up market dish or wood fired pizza all looked good and the dishes we had tasted good too. Wines by the glass and a selection of bottled and canned beer, draft would be a great addition, means you don’t have to go overboard if you don’t want to or, as in our case, one of us was driving.

A bit off the beaten track but well worth the traveling when you get there.

The setting is an old general store located in beautiful farm country, off the beaten path. Decor is comfortable and feel very much like you have stepped back in time. Service is excellent and menu has a good variety, focusing on farm to table but but definitely on the higher end. Food was well presented and portion size was very good. At our table we experienced fresh local trout, a hefty grilled pork chop with local raspberry sauce and even a wood oven pizza. Everything was fresh and excellent quality. The amount of flavor they put in both the whipped sweet potato and mashed white potatoes was almost unbelievable. This was our first visit but certainly won't be the last.

With winding roads through the New River valley, the trip to the Palisades is delightfully off the beaten path. Upon entering, your are welcomed by a soothing and sophisticated ambiance that is outdone by the pleasantness and professional of the front of house staff. The local beef was a tender, immaculately prepared creation, with the delicately prepared slightly salty miso glaze enhancing the sear.

The Palisades not the cheapest place around, but I have never been disappointed . THe menu changes often. We go about four times a year; pretty much since they opened.
Have only had one pizza; generally order from entrees.
Entrees well seasoned (not over-seasoned, just tasty); if you have very conservative taste buds ask.
Only once I thought serving size stingy .

This hard-to-find farm-to-table restaurant is worth every minute it takes to get there. Located in a restored old brick building, the menu and servers were sophisticated and informative. The cheese sampler plate not only had an amazing assortment of local cheeses, but each was drizzled with a creative topping that surprised and delighted. The entrees were equally amazing, equally fresh, and creatively prepared. If we'd had time, we definitely would have gone back a second time.
