“I would describe The Channel Bass Inn as having a wonderful.......everything.”
Reviewed 12 May 2011

From the moment you step into The Channel Bass Inn, it feels as though you are visiting your family. The spacious home has a lovely homely feel from the first glance and the welcome is wonderful. Barb and David truely make their guests feel special. I was greeted with a hug immediately when I stepped through the door. Our room was excellent and it was only second to the vivid flowers which bloomed in the tea garden. In the mornings at nine o'clock we were greeted and served several courses of fresh fruit, juices and homemade delicacies. Barb brings warmth and tradition to her table in the afternoons with tea and treats. But don't be fooled, expect more than tea and cookies. We had freshly baked scones, filled with fresh ginger and raisins shipped from far away exotic places. They were followed with the most amazing meringues . The food was heavenly...
David and Barb truely love what they do and it shines through. They are more than helpful. Barb arranged a reservation for us at a local resturant that was scruptous and they both were ready to explain the local attractions if we had any questions. They made our anniversary so special and we will be going back again. I didn't want to leave.

At the Channel Bass Inn you feel as if you have entered one of those Brit films of the 50's,set in a seaside hotel. Well appointed and roomy bedrooms with sitting areas,on the upper two floors. Large and well furnished sitting rooms on the first floor, and an ample breakfast room. Barbara's breakfasts change daily, be prepared assome are a bit spicy, but the sideboard is ample for all, and with a full house be prepared to spend an hour at the table in conversation. Take a good book as no TV in the rooms. The front great room has the only TV which forces you to meet and talk remember those days.

My Companion is 71 & I am 65 so
Pack lite as 4 rooms are on 3rd floor &4 are on the second. Stairs are narrow with only one side rail. No dumb waiter to carry luggage .
Only enterance is front door with two steps and no railing

Do we want to go back "YES"

Room Tip: New suite first floor

As a first time B&B visitor something tells me I've been ruined for other B&Bs. David and Barbara are simply amazing people including being amazing innkeepers. I loved the charm, the food, the ambience, the room, the food, the conversasion, and did I mention the food? Just be sure to "pop" the scone or else..... :o) Simply put, stay here, you will love the experience. If you have ANY question regarding ANYTHING on the island, call Barbara. She knows where to go, who to see, and where to sit at the restaurant of your choice. My only regret is that I didn't take my own advice and call her when I made my dinner reservations.

Room Tip: Call Barbara and David for anything island relate!

Here's a truly nifty B and B in Chincoteague Island, VA. Cozy, welcoming hosts Barbara and David maintain a charming home with a wonderful English Garden behind. They provide delightful breakfasts, which are on the deliciously formal side and very British in style. It's like staying with a benevolent relative who takes absolute total care of you. (Don't cut the wonderful scones with a knife,, but break them in half and slather them with jam and, yes , whipped cream!!! Glorious!) The hosts welcome people of all ages( from 6 on up when we were there, and even a small dog, but ask first about that!) and find interesting connections with all of them. Expect to be part of an ever-changing family when you are there, and enjoy your stay. You won't find another B and B like this one!
