This is a charming little restaurant on the lovely downtown mall. I adore the vintage spiral staircase to take you to the lower level entrance. The welcome and service was personal and friendly/professional. Great ambiance.
However, we were a bit disappointed with the food. The heat level was great. Our waiter asked how hot we wanted our spice on a scale of 1-5. We each said 3 and that was a perfect amount of "fire." However, the wonderful savors and spices that we love in Indian cuisine were very toned down. Was this an accommodation for Americans who want bland food? The sauces were rich, which was great; colorful and filling which was also great, but we were sad there was little true flavor to the dishes. Even the garlic naan that was raved about was not highly seasoned.
Appreciated the value of the food in general, especially with our restaurant.com certificate, but because of the lack of true flavor, we won't be back. And I'm sad because it looked so promising.
