Friends in South Carolina heartily recommended l’Auberge Provencale, so we called and made a reservation for that evening. After an all day drive, we looked forward to a relaxing meal and a good night’s sleep. We pulled in to the Auberge and were immediately helped to our waiting room. A few minutes later we walked down to dinner in the main dining room and were immediately seated and given a superb set of menu choices and a very complete and well thought out wine list.

Our server, William, was professional and polite, explaining the many dishes on the menu. The sommelier, Christian, had lovingly put together the wine list, and after discussing the many options over a glass of Mumm’s Champagne, he offered a Vouvray that he had recently acquired that wasn’t yet on the list. It turned out to be a perfect selection, as we enjoyed it with the appetizers and the main course. Each course was a lovely presentation that was as delicious as it was visually attractive. Clearly, we were dining at a very high level that brought back fond memories of times in Michelin-starred restaurants in France.

Our room was the Lafayette suite, and it was very large and very comfortable, with all of the creature comforts one might expect in the highest level of accommodations. After a very good night’s sleep, we had a breakfast that was a perfect ending to a perfect stay. Starting with yogurt, fresh fruits and croissants, we tried the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. It was beautifully prepared and served with the same care as the previous evening’s dinner.

We had a pleasant conversation with the owner before leaving and told her we would share our experience with our friends who often stop in the Winchester area while traveling along I-81.

Definitely worth a journey.

Arnold, thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. William, Christian, and Celeste really enjoyed having you and your lovely wife join us at the Inn. Alain and Celeste had a vision for L'Auberge, to create the quintessential French Inn experience reminiscent of his childhood in Avignon offering fresh local seasonal ingredients with attention to detail, flavor, and service. It warms our hearts that you had exactly the experience we strive for with all of our guest. We look forward to seeing you and your friends soon. -Bentley

L'Auberge Provencale is located on the outskirts of a tiny community, Boyce, in the middle of rural Virginia. The rolling hills, the green, woody areas, horses, cattle and an occasional llama farm, all provide a relaxing environment, conducive of maximum rest. The B&B has two parts. The main group of buildings is on Lord Fairfax highway (or route 340). There are a few =, nicely furnished rooms with views of the surrounding countryside. The restaurant is at this site and next to it, a complete bar. The second part is about 2 miles to the Northeast, and is named La Campagnette. This two-story building stands alone, and has four rooms on the second floor. All are spacious, light, well-furnished and lit, with an electric fireplace and a modern bathroom. The ground floor has a living room/library combination and a small dining area where breakfast is served. The main restaurant is excellent, although service is inconsistent.

Room Tip: The rooms in the middle of La Campagnette appear somewhat larger.

Gabriel, thank you for the wonderful description of our two properties and the relaxing surroundings. We are so glad that you enjoy the wonderful food Chef Richard Wright and his team is producing and apologize for the inconsistency of the service. We are currently retraining our serving staff to offer exquisite service. We hope to have the pleasure of having you dine with us again soon. All the best, Bentley.

The quick drive from northern Virginia, was beautiful! The experience began by being greeted by Bentley. He was very gracious and informative. There was no check in, we just waited in the parlor for a few minutes while he got our room key and then he showed us out beautiful room. The French fabrics and furnishings really make you feel you have escaped the country for awhile. We were located in the main building near the garden. After settling in, we wandered to the bar and met some wonderful people and got some info about places to go. The bar tender was friendly and professional. We had a spectacular wine luncheon the following day. The courses were amazing! The chef created the most incredibly beautiful and artistic dishes I have ever experienced. If you ever get a chance to visit and attend an event at L’Auberg Provençal, you will not be disappointed. The entire staff made the experience so wonderful. They were all warm and friendly, yet professional, without being unctuous. The breakfast was also to die for!

I booked a stay for a Saturday night to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. It was pretty much everything we were expecting and a little more. The staff were phenomenal. Bently and Catherine were two that stood out to us as exceptional, but everyone conducted themselves with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. Breakfast the next day was fantastic! The food was fresh and delicious. We had dinner on Saturday night, which was also delicious. There were a few service hiccups with a course or two at dinner, but overall it was very nice. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. The B&B is also close to many wineries in the area, and not far from the scenic towns of Upperville and Middleburg, VA.

Great staff, very accommodating, and a very nice room at an inn in White Post, VA (close to I-81 and Winchester, VA -- but you feel like you're "getting away"). Roomy, with seating area, and very cute decor. Spacious and nice bathroom. Steps away from their fabulous restaurant, La Table Provencale. We were there in winter; suspect the scenery would be beautiful in other seasons. Somewhat firm mattress, and wish they had an ottoman in the seating area, but overall very happy experience.
