As a VT alum, I know that hotel has been there for a while - at least the mid-80's. But the room and hotel seemed relatively up-to-date.

My wife has Celiac, and could not eat from the breakfast. Sometimes simple things make a difference - the eggs were next to the gravy and the sausage next to the biscuits. Just moving those things around so wheat-containing items are not next to those that aren't can make a huge difference.

In general, hotel WiFi is getting harder to connect to, and this hotel was no different in that regard. I guess concerns with wireless security and all that. My wife's phone and Chromebook never could get connected, though my daughter's IPhone did.

Checking in clerk was on a personal call eating pizza and drinking coke with a dog on a leash tied to her at front desk. It went down hill from there. Everyplace was dirty and old with drunk highway workers hanging on railing calling down to cleaning ladies. Bag of 8-9 beer cans outside our door on grass. Room smelled of anti flea stuff-had to leave door open for 1 hour. Loudest heating units ever built in 1966.Breakfast was inedible with nothing fresh--tv blasting 3 workers helping themselves to guest breakfast banging buckets yelling to any body walking by

The parking lot was packed when we pulled in, so we thought it couldn't be that bad, even though it didn't quite look like the pictures online. Turns out they were having an auction in the convention center and most of the cars were there for that. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The sheets were clean and there were no insects or anything, but it was what my teenagers called "sketchy,". The rooms are dated. The carpet and bedspreads have been there for a while. The windows were dirty and the rooms were dusty. The breakfast was ok if you are satisfied with cereal and oatmeal. The bacon and biscuits were not great. It was okay in a pinch, but we won't be staying there again unless there are no other options.
