I stumbled upon this Inn while browsing on Groupon and although there were a few problems during our stay, I'm very pleased overall.

Pros:
-The rooms with balconies and patios have amazing views! Room 15 is situated in the back end of the inn so it offers a little bit more privacy and less noise coming from the road than some others but the trees block a part of the view (I didn't mind because the rest of the view was of Route 9 with cars and trucks passing by)
-The rooms are completely renovated - great bathroom with a walk in shower.
-The food at the restaurant downstairs is delicious and my margaritas were AMAZING.
-For the most part, our room was very clean, I'll go into a couple issues below.
-The staff was very accommodating. The receptionists were very nice and helpful and provided lots of information about the area and within the Inn

Issues:
-There was an issue with our bed linens not being changed from the previous guest (there were pieces of what looked like grass clippings and long brown hair - which neither me or my boyfriend have) but the receptionist ran right upstairs to make sure that housekeeping took care of it. The Hermitage club prides themselves on being a luxury ski club but something so critical as fresh bed linens should be a must.
-We also went to Mirror Lake for free kayaking and paddleboarding and I don't think Mirror Lake should be considered a lake, it's more so a pond. The equipment was very worn but it was complimentary with our stay and we had the entire "lake" to ourselves so no complaints there.
-Also, breakfast is NOT included with your stay and the hotel restaurant prices aren't the cheapest. Getting breakfast at Dot's a couple minutes down the road is definitely worth a try! Great food, great prices and friendly, welcoming staff.

With that being said, I was very pleased with my stay otherwise but a 3 night stay is not worth $750, so I'm glad I booked through Groupon for a fraction of the price.

The whitehouse , under new management of the Hermitage resort consortium, has lifted this to a special dining experience

A real mix on the menu from sushi to fried chicken to duck to burger Prices are good but I think they make it up with the bar bill

I had the fried chicken which was excellent. The tuna tartar app was underselling and the crostini they put it on was soggy
Dessert was underwhelming although they play it up by losing the bio of that chef. Good coffee

Worth a try

Arrived on Saturday afternoon and was greeted by a most pleasant Desk manager. We chatted a bit and told her of our travels to NH and then to VT. Mentioned my affiliation with tripadvisor. Would you like to know it got us an upgrade to a King Suite Room #2. A very nice space with living room and king bed which was so comfy!
We also had a large open air porch and the sunsets from this were lovely.
This a truly beautiful place to visit. We would have liked to stay longer if we had the time. Everyone who we met there was so nice.
Met with the executive chef, Chris Bonnivier, who over sees all their VT properties'. We had access to them as well.
Chris is one great chef and wonderful man. His take on menu items are very well done. We had dinners and breakfasts here. Why go anywhere else, I say.
An example is his eggs benedict! THE BEST WE HAVE EVER HAD!
His prep on ribs are to die for!!!

Room Tip: Stately turn-of-the century mansion. Hidden staircase and the game room. Recommend Room #2 corner rm...

Stopped for a snack and beer late afternoon and sat at the bar. Bartender was great , beer fresh wonderful IPA, tuna tartar a bit small but delicious. The outside deck is comfortable offering a view of the sunset as does the inside bar. Will definitely try for dinner on next visit to this quaint town.

We were renting property in the area. We arrived the evening before and decided to stay at the White House Inn. Good choice. The inn is majestic, immaculately maintained with an all-around pleasant feel to it. Situated atop a hill, the views of the town of Wilmington were amazing. The dinner was fantastic and the wine was memorable. The heck with the rental property. We're planning to go back soon just to stay again at the Inn. We would surely recommend it to anyone with an appreciation for great accommodations.
