The White Horse in is literally down the road from the Mt Ellen base area at Sugarbush. Very convenient, quiet and peaceful. The have 26 rooms of varying sizes. Some with twin beds, bunks, queens and kings. There is a massive living room with hot tea and coffee always available, and usually some tasty, fresh baked treats as well like chocolate chip brownies, almond shortbread cookies and more. A full, hot breakfast is also included each morning and is perfect fuel for a day of skiing or hiking at Sugarbush. The inn has WiFi and TVs is all rooms. Credit cards are accepted.

We stayed here on a family ski trip to Sugarbush. The location is excellent - just a few minutes from Mt Ellen. What's also excellent is the atmosphere (quaint and welcoming) and the food (superb). Bob was a wonderful host, keeping the fire going while bringing us Vermont brewed beer. A large but cozy living room with plenty of games, books, and comfy places to sit. Allen's quiche, pastries, and cookies were out of this world. Bob's hospitality and Allen's cooking are the two main reasons we're planning on making a return stay next ski season.

Bob and Allen have a magical place to stay when you are skiing Sugarbush or Mad River Glen. They are the most gracious hosts with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The breakfasts are out of sight with everything home made and home baked. And the Fireplace room offers a great place to gather where there are always homemade pastries displayed next to the coffee and teas. They are so accommodating, we can’t wait to return.

Lovely stone fireplaced living room with fresh baked cookies and brownies on sideboard as well as a coffee maker; Beer and Wine avialble by the glass, most offerings from local area; Breakfast is served at 7am much of it home made; Packages of instant oatment though they do have a lot of sugar in them as does the Yoplait yogurt; Several coffee and teas and juices to chose from; Quiet neighborhood

The drawback is the heat set at 72 ALL night! Thermostat locked in a box so unable to regulate; The only options are skipping the covers entirely; sleeping in the buff and perhaps opening the window but knowing how expensive electric heat is I would feel bad about this choice;

Room Tip: Ask for a room in which the heat can be adjusted if one of the 26 allows for this

Bob and Allen are without a doubt the most friendly, welcoming and caring hosts that my college age son and I have ever met. The rooms are warm, cozy and elegantly furnished. The common areas have wonderful homey touches and the fireplace room is a place you may decide not to leave, especially if you taste one of the 3! freshly baked goodies that Chef Allen seems to produce non-stop as you settle into the big comfy couches. And that is in addition to the 4 or 10 things he makes every morning for breakfast. But let's not forget you're supposed to go skiing so we loved the fact that the Inn is a mere 3 minutes from the base lodge of Mt. Ellen. Bob will gently remind you that you actually came to ski and not eat all day as he delivers the printed ski report every morning. Unfailingly polite and patient he was so helpful about the best way to experience the 'Bush' and Mad River. Not to mention his personal reviews of the thick book of local restaurant menus as you decide where to go to dinner in the surrounding area. In sum, this place manages to be classy but in a down to earth way, run in a seemingly effortless and understated manner by two classy people.

Room Tip: Many configurations with two full sized beds, bunks or single big beds and I think all with private baths; comfy pillows.
