Friends and I came here to celebrate the birthday of two of us, which did not surprise me, because when you have a group of 23 people or more, the chance of being two people who share the same birthday is more than 50%. And this, boys and girls, 60% of the time, works every time. Trolling apart, this place is the bomb.
The atmosphere is rustic and you can even see the big oven they use. We tried two flatbreads, the shape is not at all like a pizza, but oh the flavour. The meat was so tender, the onions were sweet and the flatbread was crunchy. This is THE place to come,in Waitsfield, if you wanna have a great meal with friends.

Small world...the couple who's review is below this one inadvertently took our place in line and ended up seated 20 minutes before us because they complained, even though we followed 'the procedure'. Here's how it happens: According to American Flatbread's procedures you are supposed to show up in person at 4:00 and sign up for a reservation time. We did...the other couple did not (they were not aware of the procedure). You then arrive approximately 15 minutes before your scheduled 'reservation' time and wait to be seated. We arrived at 6:05; the other couple arrived at 6:15 (the hostess writes the times down as each party checks in). The hostess did tell the other couple that the wait would be about 10 minutes. 20 minutes later the other couple inquires and complains. They get seated. The next two-person table comes up 25 minutes after that! We waited almost an hour and we supposedly had a reservation time of 6:15-6:30. Why can't the restaurant just take reservations like every other restaurant? If you ask me, they make it way too complicated and difficult on the customer because you have to make a separate trip to the restaurant to put your name on a list that is ultimately inconsequential. Also, the hostess is super stressed out because several parties are complaining about the wait and she is running around clearing tables, seating people, checking people in, etc. I was stressed out watching her. And according to our server this wasn't even their busiest night.

Okay....so now we are finally seated. Our server is fantastic, great service, and the pizza (Vermont Sausage) is out of this world! Maybe the best pizza we've ever had.

They have Lawson's Finest Sip of Sunshine on tap, though at 11.00 for a pint it's about 2.00 more expensive than elsewhere in town.

It's worth going for the pizza, but the customer would have a more overall enjoyable experience if they would either stick to the established procedures or just simply take reservations over the phone. Also, you have about 30 people crammed into a tiny bar area. We noticed on our way out, there is an area between the bar and the restaurant tables that had a huge table that was never used. Is this part of the bar or the restaurant?

Got to the place about 515, hostess said 10 mins. Order a drinks from the tiny bar. Waiting, Waiting. Only 1 other couple waiting. More people came, and came. 20 mins, 30, mins, a family of 5 came in and mentioned something about that you put your name in ahead of time and sometimes they serve in groups. I went to the hostess again and she said people are checking out and she was getting to us. Well when she called people after us, we did get a bit upset. She sat us! She never told us about the reservation process. She thought she might of squeeze as in. So, we had a great waitress, and explained most of the process. Salad on the menu was great, we had a sausage and mushroom pizza that we perfect. We ate the whole thing!
We talked to the hostess later and she was apologetic and I as well. Its a fun place for groups or couples.

Enjoyed lunch on the run - great GF options! Enjoyed the outdoor seating and even took the time for the nearby Geocache.

Great flatbread/pizza you will be amazed by the quality and taste. They also have a good selection of beer and wine. The salads are quite nice as well. We were brought there by locals and thank goodness we were because I don't think we would have thought to turn into the place. Friendly staff (who in Vermont isn't)
