We live locally and come here often for dinner and a movie. Our family and friends visit often and look forward to dining here. I have read a number of the reviews here on Tripadvisor and many guests have been disappointed in the food and/or service. We normally come midweek and never during the holidays (unless we have company who insist on dining out) so have we seldom experienced a long wait or poor service. In defense of the management, we are a very small community and it’s a challenge to keep good chefs, servers and managers. The nights the owner is present, she is often working the front and/or tables to help with service. Try the burgers, the beef is from a local farm, the cheese is locally made if that type is available, and the vegetable may also be local. The cakes, pastries and donuts are all locally sourced and excellent; try the carrot cake, my favorite. If you love jazz, the first Sunday of the month features Anthony Santor during brunch. The Big Picture is one of the only restaurants open all year for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so if you come off season stop in for great service and first run movies.

Stopped in for dinner but not the movie. We got there early, a little after 5. Nobody greeted us or asked to seat us. Stood in line behind a family ordering at he counter then finally asked one of the workers if we order then sit, or if there was table service. So apparently you order at the counter if you're eating at the movie. Anyhow after that minor blip, our server arrived and all was good. Ordered burgers and surprised and delighted to see they served heady topper. Burgers were delish and our server was great. Perfect meal after a great day on the mountain. Will be back but agree the place could use someone in charge, e.g. Manager to ensure guests are welcomed and not standing around wondering what to do when they get there.

Big Picture is terrific. They are always showing the latest movies and it's a small, friendly environment with great food. Wouldn't miss it.

Worst experience ever. This place needs to get up to the year 2016. People expect more on a cold day on a vermont vaca. Being overwhelmed is not an excuse to treat people badly, And wait over two hours for food. People just sat wherever they want in the movie, many didn't even pay. The customer service worsens year after year! And no manager on site.

Hi Aimee:We had a total system breakdown on Sunday and all we can do is give a sincere apology! We try so very hard to do right by the extreme fluctuations in traffic we experience but Sunday was the perfect storm and too many things went wrong. Again - our apologies and please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make up for your less than satisfying experience.

6 of us went for dinner. Interesting menu, delicious food and local beer on tap. 2 theaters you can pop into to watch a show (dine there, too), live music, and a piano that can be played when the theater is not playing a movie. Pretty cool!
