We live locally and come here often for dinner and a movie. Our family and friends visit often and look forward to dining here. I have read a number of the reviews here on Tripadvisor and many guests have been disappointed in the food and/or service. We normally come midweek and never during the holidays (unless we have company who insist on dining out) so have we seldom experienced a long wait or poor service. In defense of the management, we are a very small community and it’s a challenge to keep good chefs, servers and managers. The nights the owner is present, she is often working the front and/or tables to help with service. Try the burgers, the beef is from a local farm, the cheese is locally made if that type is available, and the vegetable may also be local. The cakes, pastries and donuts are all locally sourced and excellent; try the carrot cake, my favorite. If you love jazz, the first Sunday of the month features Anthony Santor during brunch. The Big Picture is one of the only restaurants open all year for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so if you come off season stop in for great service and first run movies.
