We wanted a unique place to stay that had a lodge or inn like feel and not a big chain hotel. This fit the bill. The location is ideal. It is a short 1/4 mile walk to the Main Street down a sidewalk and across a covered pedestrian bridge. There are restaurants directly across the street from the inn or on Main Street. There are others nearby if you have a vehicle. There are beautiful views of the mountains no matter where you are in town. Ski, snowboard and other outdoor rentals are also close. There is a wonderful 5 mile path that you can access across the street from the inn and it meanders through the town. There are hiking trails on the mountain directly behind the inn too. There are many hiking trails and waterfalls all over the Stowe area.
There is plenty of parking in front of the inn and on the backside of the inn. All of the parking is very close to an entrance. The backside of the inn has chairs for sitting outside and a fire pit that is often burning. Unfortunately it rained a lot while we were there so we didn’t get to use it as much. There is also a large covered side deck that has corn hole and plenty of tables for sitting, eating or playing other games.
The lobby, bar and eating area on the first floor are hip, trendy, calming, decorated with an outdoor, natural vibe and includes some fun snow skiing items too. There are plenty of places for reading, eating, playing one of the many board games, etc. A light breakfast is provided each morning. It usually consisted of a bread/pastry, fresh fruit (pineapple, pomegranates, blueberries, cantaloupe, etc), an egg item (hard boiled, mini quiche, etc), and a cereal item (yogurt with toppings, overnight oatmeal, etc). There is also coffee available. In the evenings, there is hot water for tea or hot cocoa, hot apple cider (although it was a bit watered down for our preference), and cold coffee that can be reheated in the adjacent microwave. Half and half is provided for the coffee. There is also a shuffleboard table in the lobby too. There are fireplaces but they weren’t being used yet. I assume they are used in colder weather. Be aware that there is no elevator and the inn has 3 floors. It wasn’t an issue for us, but if you plan to bring a lot of luggage or don’t do well with stairs, you should take that under consideration. It’s not any different than many European hotels and inns from that aspect.
Our room was on the third floor and was a corner room with a king bed. The decor was lovely, clean, with an uncluttered vibe. Delicious chocolate chip cookies and two bottles of water were provided along with a cork screw and bottle opener if you had any wine bottles to open. Two small glasses were provided as well as a square mini fridge and two bathrobes. There are no hangers and very little places to hang any clothing. There is also no place to store clothing in a dresser or closet. There is a luggage stand that you can lay a suitcase on. There are 4 hooks in the bathroom but those were needed for towels. Consider bringing your own hangers and keep the limited space in mind especially if you are there in the winter with coats and ski gear. For the two of us, we made it work. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. There is a large flat screen TV but we never used it. There are two small sconces on either side of the bed which were helpful, but they tend to get very hot if left on for a while. Windows had curtains and blackout shades. The windows open too which was helpful because the room got hot when we took showers. There is some sort of an AC unit in the room and it was set on 64 degrees. Not sure if it wasn’t working or doesn’t function like a typical AC because the room never got that cold.
The bathroom had a square stand alone shower (no tub)with a nice rainfall shower head. Keep in mind that there isn’t much room in the shower. I’m 5’3 and 130 lbs and could barely shave my legs without water washing off the shaving cream. It was tight trying to take a shower without getting my hair wet. It was fine but if you are a taller and larger size, it might be cramped for you. The towels were plentiful and nice and thick. Two small glass cups were provided in the bathroom too which was a nice touch. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash are included in the shower. Soap and lotion are located by the sink. A hair dryer is also provided. The lighting isn’t super bright and no magnified mirror so bring your own if those are something you need.
Housekeeping is provided daily if you choose to have it. No additional cost. The first day they replaced our towels but didn’t make the bed or vacuum the floor. The second day they did all three. I’m sure you can request whatever you need. There is also a QR code if you choose to leave a tip for housekeeping. The doors have physical keys, kind of a nice retro feel. The doors have the basic lock, a deadbolt and a chain lock. We felt extremely safe at the hotel and in Stowe so security wasn’t an issue for us.
The staff is very friendly and eager to help with anything you need. They were very accommodating when our travel plans had to be adjusted for flight delays. They provided us a way to get in when we arrived after the front desk was no longer manned for the evening.
We enjoyed our stay at the Inn and in Stowe. Wonderful place to get away whether you venture out or stay inside.
