We were looking for a fun place for a light lunch and dropped into the Malt Shop. It is a fun place with50s/60s music and decorated in the period. We took our table and the very friendly waitress came straight over and took our orders for drinks. I had a fantastic maple and walnut milkshake - must have been nearly a pint!

We decided on chargrilled chicken salads which were freshly made and arrived in good time. These were huge, very tasty and had everything in them. We just about had room for a ‘small’ sundae which we struggled through between us.

As people have said before, they don’t take cards, but that is written up over the door. However, they have an ATM and offered to deduct the fee from the bill if people needed to use it to get money to pay - can’t say fairer than that. The two waitresses worked hard, were really friendly and made for a great visit.

All in all, a great place - good food, great service. What’s not to like?

Couldn't resist revisiting Stowe's Depot Street Malt Shop and we couldn't have been happier with the results. Our salmon grilled salad was delicious, and best of all (during a rare heat wave here in Vermont) was our huge hot fudge sundae coated with an additional layer of butterscotch! The waitress and music and decor were pleasant and uplifting. People of all ages seemed to agree as families with children and several couples came and went. Highly recommend, with seating inside or out (smiles).

Nice hometown feeling. Excellent service by Sarah! We enjoyed the hot turkey plate, lumberjack burger with onion rings and delicious vanilla milkshake. We hope to be back soon.

I've always heard of the Malt Shop the kids of the 1950's and what saw on Happy Days many years ago. This place is just so authentic, you can't help being transported back in time. The food is the real comfort food from our youth and sundaes are simply perfect. I hope this place continues for many years as the best place in Stowe to feel like a kid again.
