The lodge is only 8 miles from Manchester, where the restaurants and shopping are. It's a pretty ride, but a little scary at night; twisty mountain roads. The lodge sits right on the main road. Traffic noise pretty much stops after 10pm. The front desk manager who greeted me was friendly, talkative, and helpful. He was happy to provide suggestions for restaurants, etc. check in was easy and quick. The lodge itself seemed dated. The hallways seemed institutional. They were coated with a strange stucco type surface as were the walls in my room. My room was basic, but clean with the exception of a small stain on the foot blanket. The bed was comfortable. The TV worked well. Cell reception was sketchy, but probably had more to do with the area than the lodge. The elevator was small, but worked quickly. My room had a nice balcony, but as I walked along the balcony, I realized I could see into some of the other rooms. If concerned about safety, that could pose a problem as others could have walked to my room as well and if the balcony door were not locked, someone could have walked right in. Parking is in a gravel lot just up the hill not too far from the entrance.More
