This is our 2nd winter stay in the oh so comfy Green Mountain House with our family of 5 adults and 2 children (ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2). What did we do in our 5 days there? Horse-drawn sleigh ride, sledding, skiing at Bromley, shopping in Manchester, family dinners in local kid-friendly restaurants, family dinners at home prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, warm family evenings in front of the fireplace. We all look forward to another visit!
It was a perfect place for a small family gathering, very cozy with a manificent mountain view. There was something to do for all in the group; some went to Stratton to ski, others went to the beautiful Manchester town for some shopping. (within 15 to 20 minutes from the house) We even had a small hill for the small ones to go sledding. The house is well maintain, we had all we needed to make a nice family meal. All we needed to do is go food shopping at the supermarket, which was 2 miles to get supplies. Melissa and her family gave us a warm welcome.
Our family of 7 adults and 2 young children (1 1/2 and 3 1/2 years) stayed at the Green Mountain House for 5 nights during the 2016 mid-February freeze. The ample warmth inside - both from the heaters and from everyone's good spirits due to the comforts of this home - made this a special 1st time family vacation. The house has a lovely large living room that includes a working fireplace. There is a well-equipped kitchen that allowed easy preparation of meals enjoyed as a family around the large table in the dining room. The arrangement of bedrooms on the 2 floors of the house allowed for the children and their parents to occupy adjacent rooms on the main floor, with everyone else in the bedrooms upstairs. For the skiers among us, including a first time 3 1/2 year-old, the house is wonderfully located just minutes from Bromley and approximately 40 minutes from Stratton. Melissa and her family and staff at the Wilburton Inn deserve special mention for their warmth and attentiveness – be it for lending books and games to the children or for quickly responding to our occasional request. Our time at Green Mountain House was a 5-star family vacation that we all agreed should be repeated!
We are old friends from Philadelphia who spent the MLK long weekend at the Green Mountain House. From the moment we picked up the keys to the house at the Inn to our departure, we all kept marveling at how comfortable and cozy it was. Perfect really for those who want a confortable space to talk and laugh together.
The beds were quite comfortable so we all caught up on our sleep while here. The views amazing. We spent a fair bit of time just reading and talking while sitting on the couches around the fireplace. On our last night, we cooked dinner after visiting the Sunday Farmers Market and found all of the pots, plates and cooking tools needed in the well stocked kitchen.
On the morning we checked out, we had breakfast in the Inn and realized we wished we had eaten there earlier in our stay. The waiter so friendly and interesting, the food fabulous, and the organic breads amazing!!

The Trinity College Ski Team had a great stay at the Wilburton Inn in Manchester. The Green Mountain House proved to be plenty of space for over 10 people and provided a beautiful view from the bedrooms and large porch. Next time we come to Manchester, we will be giving our friends at Wilburton a call!
