The tour of Rock of Ages was informative with a good view of the quarry and a very pleasant guide. However they didn't mention the absolutely amazing hiking trails maintained by the Millstone Trail Association which take you by multiple abandoned quarries. The Grand Lookout trail also winds near huge mountains of scrap granite, called grout , which are so large with deep reserves of ice and snow that the whole area is actually cold in the middle of the summer. It's one of the most incredible experiences we've had! The trails should be your first stop!!
