Owner description: Discover Park City's history at the Park City Museum on Historic Main Street. Prospectors discovered silver in 1868 in the area that soon after became Park City. Mine owners made fortunes, while thousands of miners simply made a living. After silver prices declined, Park City reinvented itself as a ski resort town. Interactive displays tell the Park City story in an engaging manner. Fun for the whole family! Open 7 days a week (Mon-Sat 10-7, Sun 12-6).

We make a stop here every year. Love the museum store and always manage to find things we love. Right now there is a Route 66 exhibit. How cool is that!

This museum has an unassuming store front but is LOADED with historical information about the area's settlement via railroad and stagecoach; living and working in the mining town; origination of skiing; Olympic sport, etc. Exhibits are educational and interesting for all ages.

There is even small (temporary?) exhibit on Route 66 with great photos and mementos.

Give yourself at least an hour to view.

What a fun and friendly museum to visit to learn more about the history of Park City! Featuring silver mining and skiing, the museum offers many hands-on experiences, videos and exhibits on its three floors. See the underground skiing subway! Push a detonator to mine silver! Hide inside an antique jail cell! An educational and fun experience on Park City Main Street for all ages!

On a non-ski day we decided to visit the Park City museum. Lots of history and a friendly guide provides additional info. Recommend going there.

My husband and I opted to come in on a day off from skiing and we're so glad that we did. The location of the museum is fantastic, and is perfect for creating a day around since it is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants.

Although the museum is relatively small, it packs a punch with lots of videos, artifacts, photos and more. It did a great job of painting the picture of the stark contrast of the gritty mining days of Park City and its current status as an elegant mecca for skiing.

I particularly appreciated the visual wall of what a mine shaft looked like back in the day and the size of the miners relative to the mines, which was mind blowing. I think this is a must-visit museum for anyone visiting Park City, mostly because I feel it pays homage to those who worked hard in a dire environment to help make Park City what it is today.
