Owner description: For 50 years this stately and historic depot served as a major hub for transcontinental rail service. Today, it remains a monument to grand rail stations of the early 20th-century and includes four museums: the Utah State Railroad Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Browning Kimball Car Museum and the Browning Firearms Museum.

There are train cars outside which are free to view. The real gem is inside. Train museum, car museum, browning gun museum, cowboy and western heritage museum. Lots of history inside this building. Union Station will give you the feel of a real railroad station of years gone by. Great family experience.

We should have given ourselves more time to visit - we had no idea so much was packed into this one building, and I did not expect to enjoy each museum as much as I did. The docents are fantastic - do yourself a favor: go upstairs to the Firearms Museum and find the young man with the shoulder-length hair (wish I'd caught his name), and just let him talk. I don't know about you, but I don't get many opportunities to listen to people who know their subject inside and out, and boy, he does. It was a pleasure and it gave me a new appreciation for a museum I wasn't initially very excited about. The Cowboy Museum is full of small details that will whisk you out of the 21st century, and the Railroad Museum has THE BEST model trains I have ever seen. I and a toddler I'd never met had a great time following them through the tunnels and around the corners. The antique car museum is full of stunning autos, but a lot of them have stories, so find a docent. The kids will probably like this place, but unless you have a nerd on your hands, they won't be interested in examining each display in the detail you'll want to.

Get place to go. bring the little one's to see the train museum and car show. 2 years and under get in for free. adults $5.00. great historic building with alot of the original decor. there is usually 2 art galleries displaying arts. they have a few ballrooms opened for private events; weddings, bdays, reunions etc.

If you are a railroad enthusiast, this is well worth the price and time. There are a variety of great exhibits inside and out, as well as the building itself. We enjoyed seeing the active trains come through, as well.

Union Station contains a car museum, a railroad museum, a firearms museum and, I believe, an art museum. One $5.00 fee, $4.00 for seniors, covers admission to all of the museums. There is also a free outdoor area where several interesting locomotives with ties to Ogden are exhibited.
