Very elderly person in our party. We were told 2 hour wait time, they don’t take reservations. Don’t go.

While visiting Waco, my friend and I stumbled across this delightful cafe which is affiliated with a church. The servers are very welcoming and the food that was displayed made making a choice even more difficult. My hot pastrami was juicy and served with a tastily seasoned sauce. The fries were home cut rounds and my sweetened peach tea was never left half empty. My entire meal was less than $12.00! Everything served is freshly homemade and I would highly recommend taking the time to visit this cafe and the adjoining property.
About 8 miles off the beaten path...but,,,,Awesome grass fed burger! Tomato Bisque my husband even loved! We topped it off with a slice of cheese cake topped with raspberries sauce! Delicious! Bathrooms are very clean. Several onsite buildings with craft and skill venues. Enjoyed talking to the people. Only regrets, did not have room for the homemade ice cream.
This restaurant is rated the #1 restaurant in Waco....and for good reason! The jerk chicken tacos were out of this world and their famous jalapeño sweet potato soup was yummy! Save room for dessert..Homemade ice cream (many flavor options) and carrot cake were the perfect end to this meal. May try to come back one more time before we leave Waco.
The owner of our VRBO suggested we visit the Homestead and we really enjoyed the breakfast served to us at the restaurant. The shops were very informative and lots to see at no cost. You don’t see that very often.
