The trail is a lot of fun, ... we did it with 7 of us ages 50-13 ... heres what you probably want to know
-the trail : the hill country is rocky, thus , there are a lot of loose rocks on the trail, recommend a hiking stick for stability, the terrain is mostly uneven, though completely doable. Recommend hiking shoes because of the rocks. The steep part (ascending/descending hill (small mountain)) is very rocky and strenuous , but again , we all did it and survived, lol
- Streams : You will cross many and waterproof hiking shoes are recommended ...or shoes that dry fast (your shoes WILL get wet) , but its a lot of fun
- The view : Really nice vistas of the hill country and valleys from several locations from the top...we were there close to sunset and it was spectacular... this is the reason for the hike up ... highly recommended.
- stuff to see: The grotto is really cool (check out the fish in the deeper puddles), the monkey rock is..well.. it looks just like a Monkey! , redbud trees are really pretty (we werent there in the fall to see all the colors)
- We were there in March and the weather was really nice (low 70s)... great hiking temps
again - recommend: Hiking stick (can be got at Walmarts in hill country) and waterproof hiking shoes (these saved us from turned ankles , sore feet bottom, and wet feet)
