I booked this apartment through FlipKey.com. It’s located in The Woodlands Lodge, a gated apartment community off South Millbend that is well manicured, quiet, safe, and with great amenities (pool, gym, club house with a pool table and pool side grills). It’s centrally located in the Woodlands and a great place to stay if you have to visit the area. The apartment was extremely clean and comfortable, perfect for a long or short stay.

Misrepresented - I did not stay in the apartment pictured. It was comparable (sort of like if you booked a hotel room), but had a completely different layout and furnishings. There was not an outside patio area off the bedroom (although there was one off the living room). The living room did not have the antique couch with wood and marble side tables.

It’s also misrepresented in terms of the owner of the apartment. You’re not renting directly from the owner. Sara and Ike are property managers - not the owners. This is the first time I’ve rented something through an “air-b-n-b” site. So, I was a little nervous about the rental. When I asked questions on the apartment, I did receive communication back, but it was sparse. In response to two different emails, I was told the exact same same thing, “Please call me when you on your way to the property so that someone can meet you there to check you in.” The exact same response to two different questions made it feel a bit like a scam.

When I did call the day I arrived, Ike didn’t seem to recall who I was or what apartment I was renting (even though I had emailed saying when I would be arriving). So, that was odd and unnerving. But it all worked out okay. Their assistant Barb checked me in. And once I realized I was booking through an apartment management company rather than directly through the apartment owner, the short, minimal communication and confusion about who I was and where I was staying made more sense.

My one suggestion would be that Ike and Sara make it clear to renters than they might not get the exact apartment shown and that they are not the owners of the apartments they are renting out. I would recommend booking an apartment through Sara and Ike, but I would make sure to qualify the situation.
