Despite the lack of nostalgia of 'Historical' Downtown Plano, this small museum is packed with local history! The museum is housed in the original 1908 two-building structure -- the front building was the depot/waiting area, while the rear brick building housed the generators which provided the electricity to power the train. The museum has numerous historical photos, as well as hands-on exhibits. But the highlight of the tour is the ACTUAL 'Dallas Special' postal car #360 built in 1911, which can be boarded and toured. It gives a true feel for intercity travel in the early 20th century -- including 'Colored/White' seating designations. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. There is no admission cost, but the museum encourages a $2 donation per adult, and $1 per child, and is well worth it. I highly recommend, and will be returning as well!

It was well done and the station and car outside were beautifully restored. The museum is free but relies on donations which are well deserved. The grand kids really liked the tour of the old interurban mail/coach car. A nice one hour visit next to a very nice historic shopping district.

A step back in Time. Great to see some Historical vintage memorbilia . The history of the old train is here in the Park in Downtown Plano. There is a fountain & an area to walk. You can see the actual size of this railcar & touch. It is like going back in time.

We visited in the museum when the Plano International Festival was taking place right next to it. It was a very interesting experience for us and for our kids (ages 4.5 - 19), so I would recommend that to any family. The museum surveys some history of the area and the railroad, and also has some nice demos in the context of electricity, which are fun to play with and learn from. It didn't cost anything, but it is certainly worth donating to.

Nice for a quick stop. Lots of history & interesting pictures. Right in downtown Plano. I would recommend allowing an hour to two.
