Personally I hated this hotel and couldn’t wait to come home but I’ll list each point

Premium room - if you do book here it’s worth upgrading as the room is very large and comfortable however the balcony doesn’t have anywhere to rest your feet when reading a book (small problem but it bothered me). Cleanliness isn’t great they don’t sweep the floors!

Dress code - as well as the usual long trousers on men they also don’t allow sleeveless tops on men or shoes with a toe bar on women no matter how pretty they are. They don’t advertise this before you arrive and are strict on it. There was a woman checking feet every evening as you entered.

Don’t go early or late as they don’t put everything out at the start and remove most options an hour before dinner finishes.
Dinner - beware excessive charge for water!!!!
Being British I’m used to being able to order table water but here you have to pay€2.50 for a small bottle of water and don’t think you can bring your own in that’s greeted with hostility! Wouldn’t be so bad if bottled water wasn’t so cheap in the canaries. A 30 sec walk down the road you can buy 8litres for 3.20!!
lack of variety for the most part it’s some kind of meat in sauce, one item on the carvery or pizza which is all very samey and after a couple of days you’re bored of it. Most nights no veg and when there is it’s over cooked to mush with no flavour. Staff are rude especially if you don’t order drinks.

Breakfast - lukewarm every day and one morning served cold fries! Only good part was the waffles and pancakes though these were hit and miss as it seems only 1 woman could cook them properly and if she wasn’t on they were burnt and practically inedible. Also they don’t start making them till 8am so if you’re headed out for the day you won’t get any!

Entertainment - on every night till gone 11pm. It’s outside in the pool area so echoes all around the building and is loud so even with the doors closed and a pillow over your head you can’t drown it out!! It’s not very good quality and most nights the chairs weren’t even half full. If you like to get up early and enjoy the day don’t stay here unless you have really good ear plugs I wish I had!!!

Pool area - not bad the one positive at this hotel is they don’t release the sunbeds till 9 am so you don’t get the people who take all the sunbeds with towels at the crack of dawn.

Location - if you want to go to Siam park it’s only a 15 minute walk away although most of this is uphill, if you want to catch the free shuttle bus it’s a 5 min walk away only partway up the hill. You can also catch free buses to jungle park and aqua land from the same spot. The nicest beach is a 20 minute walk away but if you’re not fussy the coast and some less nice beaches are 10 minutes in a different direction. There are small shops less than a minute away never did find a supermarket but being hb it didn’t matter.

We requested a pool view room which we got, the room we had was on a side bit which meant no one was above us which was even better. The rooms was nice with a good sized bathroom, and bedroom and the fridge in the room was a bonus!! There was plenty of sun beds and the pool area was nice. The entertainers was so so nice and always tried to get people involved with the activities, was always smiling and would always speak to you!!! Very nice people. However the food in the hotel restaurant has flies all over the salad bar, sandwiches and cheeses every day without fail which was vile!!! It definitely put you off eating the food. I was also told I wasn’t aloud to wear flip flop to tea but sandals was fine which I found absolutely pathetic, I personally don’t see what the difference is in flip flops or sandals?? There was a room to leave suitcases in when checking out which was locked most of the time which was good. Overall an alright hotel!

I’ve just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel with my boyfriend and it was definitely worth the money. We booked a package deal with Thomas Cook and think it was very reasonably priced. We had the half board option and there was plenty of food to choose from every morning and evening. The hotel was kept very clean at all times including the rooms and restaurant. The staff in the restaurant were extremely friendly and offered a welcoming service. We didn’t really watch many of the evening shows, but I will say that Sergio does an excellent job of getting people involved. Thank you for an enjoyable stay at the Oro Negro.

Stayed here for 5 nights, hotel very clean and friendly. Good points are that the pool was clean, shower was powerful and hot, lovely marble bathroom, comfy beds, tv and balcony was good, staff always happy to help and always had clean towels every morning. 10 min walk to playa de las Americas and supermarkets.

Bad points are balcony view isn’t very good on 1st floor(we had a view of the kids play park), food wasn’t great. 10 euros each for breakfast/lunch/dinner if self catering. Entertainment can be quite loud until 12am.
