Piccada hotel is a big, old fashion hotle in a very good location, right in front the touristic port of Palau.
The rooms are reasonably comfortable but the furniture is dated and the overall look of the place is of an hotel from the '80s.
The personnel is very kind and friendly, trying to help the customers if they can.
The room we booked was a superior room and they firstly gave us a nice room with a nice balcony facing the pier. The big problem with it was that on the balcony there was the AC motor unit of the near rooms, so, even if our AC was off, we had noise and heat coming in from the open window. So we had to switch the AC too and close the window, sleeping all night with AC that was NOT necessary and annoying. In Palau there is such a lovely breeze that sleeping with AC is a nonsense.
The day after we asked to be moved to another room and, luckily thay had another identical, the floor above, but with no balcony and, luckily, without the noisy AC motor...
The breakfast is generous but the quality of food is not that much. Almost NO local products and breakfast room that was partially dark and, again, with annoying AC that made the stay uncomfortable. Unfortunately there are not open air tables, apart one that is for smokers, so, if you were lucky that nobody was smoking in your face, you could have breakfast outside.
The last disappointing thing was the parking. We had a car and the choice of Piccada was because they advertised the parking available.
Unfortunately, they did not say that the parking places were not enough for all the guests and so, parking the car has been truly hard, even if we paid for it...
So, all in all, for a three nights stay, it was not completely good, and not completely bad, but for the price, sincerely, we expected something better.

Room tip: room number 118 has a good view

We stayed for 10 nights in mid September. The hotel was still fairly busy.
Our first impression of the hotel was that the publicity photos had been taken a long time ago.
The room was basic. We had paid for a seaview which we got.
Unfortunately there was a very strong and unpleasant smell of drains emanating from the bathroom. The cleaner regularly combatted this with bleach but the smell returned by the evening.
The overall standard of cleanliness in the room was acceptable and towels and sheets were changed regularly.
We tried to buy a drink at the bar one evening but without success as the male receptionist would not serve us. We are unsure why as the female receptionist the night before was happy to do so.
The breakfast was adequate with a reasonable choice of food available.
Overall we were left with a feeling of disappointment and felt that the hotel was not up to the standard we had hoped for.

The hotel is located 5 min from the harbour which is really convenient if you want to go to the maddalena islands. Hotel offers free parking. Lots of stairs so maybe ask a room on the first floors if needed. Hotel/room is dated and i would say a bit pricey for the room/service. Room itself was very rustic. It was clean but maybe too clean as there was a very strong bleach smell. The sound isolation of the room is quite bad so i would only recommend it for a short stay. Breakfast was ok.

We were very happy with our stay at Piccada - the front desk staff were extremely helpful, we were able to park our rental car for free, we were on the first floor with just a little view of the harbour but the room was light and airy with a balcony. We had a small refrigerator in the room and the shower had good pressure. The location was an easy walk to everything in town and the breakfast buffet was very good - especially the excellent cappuccino machines!

Checked in with 3 friends early August . Location of the hotel is good very near the port and just across the water to St Madelena very pretty port with nice bars and restaurants. The twin bedded room was very basic but clean . Checked in easily . The next day the older Sardinian lady I think her name is Elena asked us to come to reception . She wanted more money ... She said she had made a mistake and needed to charge us more . We had the confirmation email of the rooms we booked and the agreed price. But she made us feel very uncomfortable still insisting we paid more. We told her we wouldn't be paying anymore. The receptionist the next day apologised for "Madame " . On departure 2 days later we had been told we could use the shower because our flight was in the evening. When we returned after a beach day before our flight "Madame " insisted on charging us 10 euros . I said we had been told the shower would be available and all we needed was to keep our room towels. She insisted we pay. So no shower . A good location to the fabulous islands but to be honest wouldn't recommend the hotel .
