The Refuge de Miage is about 6 hours from Les Houches on the TMB if you do the Col de Tricot alternative. However it is anot as remote as it feels and actually has vehicular access. It's a great place to stop for food and drink but also a great place to stay. We reserved a '2 bed room' and were allocated our own little house - (wooden chalet) . There was some outside seating with table and loungers and the most superb view of the Dome du Miages. The 'house' itself had twin beds bit also a mezzanine with 4 further berths. there was a loo and a sink with plenty of space and pegs for gear. The showers are hot and adjoin the main refuge building. We had demi pension and had a lovely 3 course meal (vegetarian option no problem) and also a hearty breakfast to set us off on our way the following morning.
This was a very special and memorable overnight stay.More
