We love the Houston Zoo! It's expansive, fun, and so engaging for families. The animals are well taken care of, the staff is knowledgable, and there are so many things to see and do.

Has been a couple of years since we have been. Absolutely enjoyed the family day out. Always updating and keeping it nice. Food prices a bit costly but enjoyed the zoo animals, birds, and reptiles. Lot of shade while walking.

The Houston zoo is a great place to take kids of all ages, even our two older girls in the group aged 14 & 15 really enjoyed it! There is some construction happening currently, but you don't even really notice it. The variety of animals to see was great, free parking across the street (but really busy on weekends), The only things is the "petting zoo" is only goats, nothing else...lol wish they had a few animals there. The elephants were fantastic as there is a little one that is quite entertaining. We had the CityPass, so the zoo was included in our list of activities...even though we have a zoo at home, was a great place to take the two groups of us.

As we arrived at the zoo which was around 11:20 on Tuesday the 3rd April, we were surprised by a member of staff who explained that the zoo was free to enter after 12:00, as it was the first Tuesday of the month. So we got a quick bite to eat at the cafe which was close by and whilst we were eating, I noticed that the queue was getting very large, and started to queue, as we were queuing a member of staff explained that we needed to book the tickets online, which was very simple to do, after 12:00 when the park was open the it took 20 minutes to enter the zoo.

The zoo was outstanding which had lots of animals in their natural habitats, plenty of toilets and places to buy drinks.

As our children are 6 and 3 it was decided to hire a wagon to sit them in and to transport them around the park, that cost $15 which I felt was reasonable.

We went over with the kids and they enjoyed it! There are some nice exhibits and some regular ones. The zoo is not that big, and you can finish it in 3-4 hours. There is a water splash area for the kids , they loved it, untill one kid ( not ours ) had an accedent ( or not...) and they closed it for more then an hour... that was a bummer. I really loved the Apes exhibits ,less the birds one. We had a good time! Buy the cityPass , it makes life cheaper...
