The SpringHill Suites Houston Intercontinental is a newly renovated hotel with a nice/clean interior, very pleasant staff, a decent yet small hotel gym, and an outdoor pool. The hotel is located minutes from the airport which makes it a good central location for anything in north Houston. We visited as a part of a basketball tournament and the hotel was very accomodating.

We were delighted with our accommodations as well as the friendly, helpful staff here. The suite was spacious, well laid out, and generally a pleasure to stay in. There were two queen beds, a microwave, mini refrigerator, water heater for coffee or tea, nice sized, well lit desk, and a couch with a one seat fashioned for reclining. The living area/desk was separated from the beds with smoked glass that could have allowed one person to stay up and read without disturbing someone else sleeping.

The toilet with a pedestal sink was behind a separate door from the shower and the sink with a counter. Between these two rooms, was a walk in closet. The two bathroom facilities had sliding doors.

As with most US hotel rooms, we had some problems with the air conditioner, so had to fashion a pillow wall to keep the cold air from blowing directly on us. The food in the bar (and the margaritas) was mediocre. There was a surprisingly lengthy menu for a bar, but I don't know that any of the other dishes would have been better. And unless there were some places to eat that we did not see, I think once we arrived and had relinquished our rental car at the airport, we were a captive audience.

Nonetheless, I was very pleased with the hotel. I would just pick up some food on my way there next time.

For the money - you can't beat this place. Recently renovated. Free shuttle to and from airport - the shuttles are basically brand new.
Really great staff - very friendly.
And top it off with very comfortable clean rooms, free wifi and free breakfast. It's a total bargain!

We called from baggage claim and were directed to a nearby door and a very short wait for the shuttle. Driver assisted us with our luggage and that was much appreciated. Our reservation was in order & our check in was efficient. At this point, I want to say that ALL of the other staff we encountered were very friendly and accommodating.
Our room was updated, clean & fresh. It is the Springhill style with 2 "bathrooms". One with a vanity and shower & one with a sink and toilet. The sink & toilet room has a wooden door & the other area has a frosted glass door. The lighting was good & we were able to easily read in bed with the headboard lights.
After we dropped our luggage in the room, we headed to the bar area for food. We weren't interested in venturing out this late at night. Our bartender/server was excellent. She took good care of us & we had our simple meal in no time. Beer was cold & wine was also the appropriate temp. Glad we were able to stay in the hotel for our late night (9:30 pm) meal.
We were on the airport side of the hotel and despite some earlier reviews, you CAN hear the planes. It really is an airport hotel. In the morning we opened the blinds to see 2 planes heading toward the hotel. One a little left & one a little right. You will want to set the fan in the room so it is on constant to alleviate the overhead noise if it is an issue for you. The room doors in the hotel also don't close quietly unless an effort is made to not allow them to slam. I know someone was checking in late at night and someone was leaving around 4:30 in the morning because of the doors slamming.
It was nice to have a breakfast available in the morning. The area was kept stocked by a couple of nice ladies who also kept it clean.
We used Uber to move to our downtown for the meetings hotel & it was about $20 at a non-surge time.

Room Tip: Try side of hotel away from airport?

Just returned from a week long stay at this suite property. In town a for a business visit and needed to stay close to the client - leading to the choice of hotel. While there are a number of hotels in the area - safe to say that the rooms here are definitely the most contemporary and offer the best combination of space and functionality.

Good space in the rooms - bed was a little too soft and really wish hotels would offer beds with a little more firmness. Wifi was decent speed with basic wifi being free and a high speed connection available for a marginal fee. Rooms were well soundproofed though having planes take over your head means that if you are a light sleeper things could get difficult.

Breakfast was standard for a suite property in the US. Nothing spectacular but enough variety that you could eat quite well or quite healthy as required. Not much around in terms of convenience stores or restaurants so pretty much in line with the rest of the US where a car is almost de rigeur.

Great if you need to be close to the airport. Nothing spectacular but well executed for what it offers. Staff were generally friendly with sufficient southern hospitality.

Room Tip: Higher floor
