This tunnels are located in downtown and they’re very famous, below there are a lot of restaurants you can eat, but only at lunch hours after, it’s pretty empty, but you can walk and get to some places.

Whilst I understand it is used locally to escape the heat I used it to escape the rain. With the aid of a tourist map one is able to navigate around downtown making the most of the tunnel network.
The tunnels are busy during the day with restaurants, food courts, barbers, beauty saloons and countless shops all vying for business, hidden beneath the city. As 5.00 pm approaches business dies away and I assume the network is closed for the night shortly after.

The air-conditioned tunnel system in Houston is a godsend. It connects the downtown buildings in a protected maze of underground walkways that avoid street crossings and are full of businesses, such as eateries and services. The maps (available online) and directional signage will make finding your way much easier. Best idea since sliced bread.

If you wander around downtown houston during the weekdays you may wonder how come there is little pedestrian traffic. Well the reason is that somebody realized that putting an underground tunnel system to connect up major companies is a better idea.
If you don't have a car i took the metro trolley to main street square station and then just enter any of the corporate building and look for the down escalator.
The best/crowded time is around the lunch hour since I swear you could find just about any food type served here. The trouble is that i couldn't locate a map showing what was where but it seems like the locals know becuz they were busily scurrying to whatever place to eat. Plus the tunnels are well air conditioned. if you get lost look at major corners for the map showing you are here.

Cool to explore. Just look for the "tunnels entry" on the doors into businesses around downtown Houston. Very easy to locate once you are looking but keep a good map as it is easy to get loss. Lots of different food options down there and mostly used by business professionals in the area.
