Owner description: Glass artist David Gappa founded Vetro in 1999. During that time, Gappa cultivated a team of glass artists who perform their art of glassblowing in Vetro’s state-of-the-art working studio. The studio and attached fine art glass gallery are located in the historic district of Grapevine, Texas. In addition to creating fine art glass, Vetro artists enjoy educating the public about this ancient art form through live demonstrations and hands-on events. Simultaneously, Vetro’s friendly and inviting gallery staff create a relaxed and comfortable gallery atmosphere in which to browse and shop.

Could see the artist at work behind the glass. Lots of interesting and beautiful art for sale in a variety of price points. Includes Christmas ornaments at the time of year. Wished I was traveling by car as there were a couple of larger pieces I wanted!

Om: This is our first of two yearly visits to Vetro – first visit to make glass pumpkins, then a few months later to make Christmas ornaments! This was the pumpkin excursion, and we love our glass pumpkins! We had conversations with the guys who actually molded the glass, but we got to pick the colors out of about five premade options. Last years’ came beautiful, and we expect the same this year – takes a few days for the glass to cool, so unfortunately we can’t bring them home on the spot. Vetro is also a glass gallery, some beautiful pieces that can be bought…for a price. Making our glass pumpkins and ornaments is a yearly tradition, love going here with my Beautiful Love!

Nom: I really really enjoy this place, glass art – what an amazing art medium. I have TONS of respect for these folks too, it’s a medium you can’t put your hands in and I image manipulating it can be a challenge to learn. It’s so beautiful and you can see how it will evolve right before your eyes. You may not see the final colors but you can see the direction it’s going as they fire it and it begins to cool. I love pressing the molten glass into the color glass beads and watching them meld in the furnace. Amazing art form. I love this tradition with my handsome love and can’t wait for Christmas ornament making!!

Don't leave Main Street without a visit to Vetro. It's easy to miss, since it's not on Main Street. It's hidden on the sorth end behind a plain green building across from the train depot. The Vetro sign does not give any hints what the place holds.

Vetro is a blown glass studio with an active state-of-the-art equipment and professional glass artists. The front half is a studio that displays their glass and art that is for sell. It's cool in its own right. The real magic is through the gallery doors. Three small rows of stadium seating have been set up to watch the magic of glass blowing. What a beautiful art to watch.

As this is an active glass shop, they work during business hours. They probably are not there on weekends and nights unless they are leading a class. I really loved watching glass bulbs being made for a sculpture in a building being built in Dallas.
