Meet friends in Granbury, Texas and spend the weekend. "In the Texas Plains and Lakes region 69 miles outside of Dallas, the charming town of Granbury makes frequent appearances on "best small town" lists, and it's easy to see why. The town's historic square, lined by historic landmarks, makes for excellent shopping, and there are plenty of mom n' pop restaurants to choose from when it comes time to refuel. The beach at Lake Granbury offers a way to cool off on those hot Texas afternoons, and there's even a family-friendly boardwalk." -USA Today 10 BEST TRAVEL The FIRST TOWN SQUARE In Texas To Be Listed On The National Register Of Historic Places And Has Become A Prototype For Restoration Projects All Over America. The beautiful Historic Granbury Square provides a central gathering place for entertainment, civic life and commerce and truly is the heart of our downtown community.

We moved here about a year ago. As soon as we saw the square, we felt like we had gone back in time. The historic limestone courthouse in the middle of the square is the centerpiece surrounded by other century old limestone buildings that house an assortment of quaint shops and choice of restaurants. Paradise is my favorite place for breakfast. The Filling Station is great for lunch. Ketzler's has a great Beer Garden and D' Vine Wine is a great place to go for a nice glass of wine or "winarita". Farina's, 1890 and Christine's are great places for dinner

Granbury is only 35 miles from Fort Worth and is situated on a lake. It is a great get away spot for a weekend or even a place for a nearby vacation get away. Check out the Visit Granbury site to see what festivals are on the calendar. I love this place!

The history of the buildings was enough to convince me to go after seeing a friends post. There is construction, but it was still easy to get around the square. Some shops were closed on Tuesday, but 90% were open. The buildings are full of history, and the shops have reasonably priced items. Items in the stores are either clothing or decorating items. The antique stores have items priced higher then other antique stores in the metroplex. The Square has a lot of events throughout the year. We are planning on go back for some. This area is more fun then driving to Waco. The Silos are just two stores, everything is way overpriced. The wine tasting places are fun, and pretty good wine. We can home with quite a bit of it. The restaurants have high reviews. We ate at the bistro for lunch. The burgers were great, and the sandwiches were big. After shopping all day we ate at the German restaurant, it was fantastic. I am looking forward to going back for some fall events. This is definitely worth a trip to see the Square and the shops. If your husbands are not into boutique shops, leave them at home. Take the girls and enjoy some wine and shop!
