“Quaint small town American town square”

Historic Downtown Glen Rose

The shopping is mostly antique stores, but the historical buildings are worth a stop. The limestone courthouse of Somervell County, Texas, has interesting architecture. There is also a gazebo with an authentic dinosaur track at the base.

There is a museum across the street, an ice house, and a number of other historic buidlings.

We visited on a Saturday morning in April, and there were a couple of vendors selling homemade pickles and jellies. The farmer's market area offers more items seasonally, so it is worth a stop if you decide to go to Glen Rose to visit the dinosaur tracks at the Dinosaur Valley State Park.

This is a small square with a few shops. It won't take long to visit. However, it's worth the stop at Pie Peddllers after a burger at Hollywood and Vine!

Many of the storefronts in this charming historical square are no longer open for business. The historical buildings and sweet shops that remain are a good way to spend a couple of hours, but you won't need to set aside much time to take a look through this historic square.

Glen Rose is about an hour from where we live, and is a great getaway for anyone in the DFW metro area. The square has a small but beautiful courthouse, and a number of interesting shops to browse. My favorite place on the square is the Pie Peddlers. Fresh pies daily, wifi, and a good place to "hang out." There are several attractions in the area, but Downtown is worth a stop as well.
