Stayed with family for a nice relaxing weekend. We stayed at the Von Heinrich home. Loved it!! Relaxing, beautiful atmosphere. The property had a nice charm and loved all the history this property had. Free roaming animals throughout made it feel warm and welcoming. Fresh basket of breakfast breads and juices were delivered to us daily. Just a few minute drive to town makes this place a nice quiet romantic getaway! Will certainly be back. Highly recommend.

Setttler's Crossing is WONDERFUL! Very peaceful and relaxing. The grounds are wonderful and the amenities are wonderful. The cottage we stayed in was beautifully decorated with the lastest amenites. We love that it is pet friendly and the animals on the property made it even more memorable. Our hostesses were very friendly & welcoming. Was definitely one of the best vacation spots we've experienced; hated to leave! R. Sanchez

Room Tip: It was hard to choose which cottage; they were all appealing!

We just got back from a couples weekend at Settlers Crossing. Two couples in the Von Heinrich house and two couples in the Bohl cabin. We had a wonderful time. The cabins are extremely well preserved and renovated, and very clean. I have friends who live in houses this old and their houses are way more rickety and drafty than these. The cabins we stayed in were rock solid and well insulated, and the A/C worked wonderfully - important in August! The location is a bit out in the country, which is great for star gazing and just feeling like you've really gotten away from it all. It is super quiet at night also. The small herd of goats and two donkeys roaming the property help with the ambience. This is not a B&B for high maintenance guests, however. We arrived to the key in the front door, and a basket of baked goods on the table. A second basket arrived the next afternoon, and we left the key in the door on the way out. If you need concierge service, or want to sit and chat with the owners over breakfast, this is not the place for you. Yes, the stairs are steep and narrow, as is standard in these old houses. Not an issue for us. The Von Heinrich house was plenty big for two couples, and the kitchen and living room big enough for all 8 of us to hang out. The only down side is that the tub has a European style shower attachment that means you sit/squat in the tub and hold the shower head over you. Not an issue for me, but it would be a bit cold in the winter I think. The Bohl cabin is doll-house cute, and doll house small. Two couples is a tight fit for anything but a base of operations to be out and about. The kitchen and bathroom are tiny. It would be fine for one couple I think. And it is cozy, and did I mention stinking cute? There is also a convenience store about 1/2 mile away on the main road for quick trips for extras. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Von Heinrich house very nice with plenty of space, Bohl cabin very small, but cozy cute.

I called at the last minuter for a quick anniversary trip. We had just been thru my father passing away, and taking care of numerous family, and wrapping up a life time of details. Everyone else in the area insisted on a two night stay, which was not possible for us. David understood and opened up his magical bed and breakfast for my husband and I. The whole area is truly a trip back in time. I felt like Laura Ingals Wilder and will return with the whole family to stay in one of the bigger cabins when time allows. We started at Luckenbach, did several wine tastings, went into town for a beautiful romantic meal and ended up back at Luckebach listening to Asleep at the Wheel. Unbelievably lucky night for us and we have David Estes to thank for this. If you have the choice, pick this place, it's an adventure back to a different era.

What a cool place to stay. We stayed in the Von Heinrich house which was absolutely charming. All the comforts of home! We had the pleasure of visitors each day. Momma donkey and her baby, a herd of sheep with babies. Such a romantic getaway. Will refer all my friends to Settler's Crossing!
